What's happened to Bates last I heard he had a bad dose of the ****s, he must of lost loads of weight by now if he still has them! Anyone know why he has not featured for weeks now?
Does he even make the bench? Cos when a team create a solid (ish) partnership a the back it's quite hard to get in to.
I do think he will get better. He did have a few looking at him before he came here and you don't lose that overnight. Think he needs a better pairing than he has had since he joined us. And with Tangs and J.Wilson making the bench surely if fit he should at least be there?
If he has had the runs for a week or so I should think he would be too weak to train properly I know I was, so that is probably why S O'D hasn't been able to see him train properly just hope he is fit for this weekend the thought of Fontaine and Wilson at the back is enough to give me the runs and I find it hard enough to walk ATM.
Agreed James Wilson is worse than fontaine and that's says something never want to see him play again. We need a CB so desperately Bates isn't the answer he didn't sort the defence out whislt he was here and it hes playing it means carey isn't so would rather see someone better than Louis come in if we are to have any hope. James wilson is not as bad as Fonts. If he was he wouldnt have had high interest over the last few seasons from premier league scouts. His issue like others is he has had long term injuries and as he isnt playing weekly he wont be match fit so to then be brought on will take time and when you are playing along side fonts there is no one like carey who is organising the back four
He's never impressed me once Andy. A defender should never be shrugged off the ball so easily like he was on Saturday. Fonts has been linked with Liverpool and Southampton in the past. Players who are linked with premier league clubs aren't as good as the ones who are BOUGHT by premier league clubs.
Fontaine does not help any defensive partner and James Wilson has suffered more than most because of this. JW will go elsewhere and be a very good centre back. But I'd rather say bye bye to Fontaine!!!!!!!!!!!!
We are talking about Jordan Rhodes a player bought for £8m and in the last two seasons (so far) has scored 56 goals in 68 league games. Must be 55 other crap defenders out there for him to score that many goals
But Andy he did not have to do anything very special to get both his goals. If he had done something totally brilliant, we can all take that but that was not the case. They were gift wrapped for him.
He wasn't shrugged off the ball, Jordan got wrong side of him and he was strong enough to hold JW off, he reminds me very much of Shearer in that respect... You are wrong about Bates and JW shiny, the common denominator is their central defensive partner...
That's just your opinion. I feel you're wrong. JW has rarely had a good game and at 23 he should be in his prime making a name for himself. Says a lot about him when a 36 year old bloke shows you up and keeps you out of the side. Simple fact is JW isn't good enough for championship football.
Maybe because he's been in and out all the time. If Carey had been treated like that when he was in his early 20's he would be nowhere near Atyeo's record and nor still be at the performance level he is at (which even so is now not good enough for Championship football)
the reason carey wasn't treated like that in his early 20's is because he was a decent player. You really think if JW was a decent player he would be on the bench/reserves. We have the ****test defensive record in the country and he cant even get into that defence
