Last week when we were all euphoric after the signing of RVW, I thought it might be a good idea to have a match thread on tonight's game so we could all comment on the performance of our new accuisition for next season. With the fallout after our latest dire performance at the DW Stadium I wasn't sure whether to post or not as we're all feeling a bit flat. Well here goes anyway, perhaps this will give us all a bit of optimism if RVW puts in a shift and gets a brace. please log in to view this image please log in to view this image ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- With Ricky Van Wolfswinkel joining Norwich next summer, City fans have more than a passing interest in the fortunes of FC Sporting Lisbon from now until the end of the Primeira Liga season. While I'm sure we would all like him to score a few goals for Sporting in their remaining fixtures, the main thing is that he stays injury free between now and the summer so he's fit and raring to go for us next term. Braga Stadium Portugal please log in to view this image Sporting come into this match on the back of a 2-1 win in their last game at home to Vitoria Setubal courtesy of an own goal and a penalty from Zakaria Labyad. Zakaria Labyad please log in to view this image Sporting currently sit a disappointing 10th place in the Primeira Liga and have accumilated only 27 points thus far with only six victories. Braga on the other hand are currently 3rd. albeit 14 points behind 2nd placed FC Porto, so this will be a tough ask for Sporting. Two times European Champions Benfica are top at present with a points haul of 61. Line ups for tonight's game have yet to be announced so hopefully RVW will pull on the No.9 shirt. Hopefully we'll witness something positive from a Norwich player! If he plays, I'm going to be paying close attention to how Sporting set themselves up, as presumably their formation gets the most from Wolfswinkel, and might be something we'll be looking to emulate in an attacking sense (hopefully) next season. Fingers crossed we don't see him barely touch the ball and get stretchered off.
Nice idea for a thread. It will hopefully fill me with hope for next season following Saturday's woes.
Is it english commentary? My high school french isn't holding up as well as I'd hoped. Edit: Although I'm pretty sure the commentator just called Norwich 'boring'. His knowledge of the PL clearly trumps mine of any European league!
am I the only one watching this? another great shot from ricky from the outside of the box, came back off the crossbar though. keeper had no chance if it was 6" lower. RvW looks capable of making his own chances if CH insists on nobody else making any for him...
RICKAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY VAAAAAN WOLSWINKEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEL!!! Diving header to complete his hattrick and win the game 3-2 in the last minute of injury time, he definitely knows where the goals are
Feck me toastie, I wish he was playing for us Saturday Bloody good watch that, pity it seems most not606er's didn't tune in
Just read thro this thread because BBC are showing the result but no details. Cheers for the updates! Either you two have just combined for an April fool's trick that I wish I'd thought of OR he really is up to the hype! What a player he sounds!
