After the last few match threads have been added a tad early and in some cases games in advance I was thinking maybe we could do it on rotation?

I enjoy making match threads but also like to see different layouts, formats and stats posted by others on theirs.

Maybe If we had them on rotation everyone would know who was due to post and it would give us time to make a decent well thought out thread rather than one that actually doesn't have any details in it and was just posted for the sake of getting it done before anyone else.

    Any thoughts?

Not that I'm interested in being involved, but why don't you start a thread entitled something like "Sign up here to be on the match thread rota". Then you could put a deadline by which time all interested people have to sign up, and take it from there. You might need to get the mods to remove any threads done by the "wrong" people, but it should work.

Does it really matter who does them?

It reminds me of a group of squabbling kids waiting for their go on somebodys brand new BMX

How about we just have an unwritten rule that we have no match threads until the day before the game? And maybe we could come to a decision on who does it best and just have that person do them from now on. Honestly, I don't care who makes the thread and I don't really think anyone does. The important thing is the conversation which follows.

This is incredibly **** and political. Just get a mod to create and pin one the day after a game is complete, simples. Anything you want to put into it, you can.

    I do agree.

I think Match Threads should be posted on a Thursday, 2 days before matchday, and on a Thursday night pre-match Interviews are posted on SaintsPlayer.

Thursday means 2 days till a Saturday game and 2 days after any potential game on the Tuesday.

I think sometimes if they get started too early the debate goes off-track and ultimately come the game whatever was discussed before is completely cut away from the match itself.

I also appreciate some stats, research on form, key men, etc. etc.

But yes, you're right. I'd propose for Match Threads to go on a Thursday.

I'd be happy to get involved and do some, although I think Saint_Lambden probably does the best ones.

I'd say match threads become poor when someone feels pressured into doing one sometimes in fact.

Do you guys not actually read threads. The number of times that we have let you all know about match day threads. I will repeat.....We want as many of you to take part in doing match day threads. Doing them early is no guarantee that your thread will be used as official match day threads. If you did the last one then the chances are we will use another. Timing......Tuesday or Wednesday matches the earliest we will sticky is Sunday evening /Monday morning. For Saturday matches Earliest will be a Wednesday. For a Friday....... Tuesday the earliest. So far it has not been a problem. Please though do read the post we put out when someone posts early. I did two reminders for lamballana BT

Yes Bazz You are full of criticism but we have not actually seen any offerings from you..........You moaned about the last person to attempt at least to do a thread albeit early, which was the body of your complaint and yet not two posts above it was a reminder from myself to let you all know what the format was for match day threads! Here you are having another go.....do you actually read any of the threads at all??

Beddy I did the match thread a couple of weeks ago, and yes I saw the comment you made on the match thread in response to my comment yet it was still made a sticky and then another match thread was created for the next match albeit it was locked after.

I am not trying to be critical I'm stating that even though your telling people not to do it it was still happening.

I am just giving an idea that would make it more fair rather than first come first stickied which doesn't give time to the rest of us.

If you think your way of handling it is working then fine but I was just puttin it out there that there may be a better way.

Apologies to every-one if by starting the Doncaster match thread and this weeks I've stepped on toes or wound people up. Beddy has quite rightly pointed out the error of my ways although in my defence I was in blissful ignorance of the correct process until it was made clear earlier this week.

There we go. End of issue. No need for anyone to get wound up anymore, he never realised! No need to jump on Beddy or another poster if he was unaware.

Guys it is no skin off my nose who does the thread for match day. The format we agreed right at the beginning was the one previously described. It is the format that most of the other teams use right across the forum. Really and truly Lambden and DTLW used to do the best match day threads in my book but a few you others wanted a go. If you decide amongst yourselves who should do them that is ok by us. You just have to understand that we can only sticky things for a short while other wise we get complaints. Not only from other posters but sometimes from HQ as well (too many stickies blah blah blah) although non of late.

Thought the rule was working...only a few days in advance. There is no point doing one too early as it just clutters up forum or gets lost. In the end though, we all comment so it doesn't really matter.

I would like to apoligise for my incredible early Pompey thread if that is what the b!tching is about!

Got peed off by a skate on Wednesday so resorted to taking it out on a keyboard with the 'NO ONE WILL BEAT ME' attitude.

    Apologies.

I have since asked for it to be locked, and will be reopened after the Blackpool game, most probably early next week <ok>

Wasn't b!tching was just pointing out, to be fair it's been happening for ages, I first did it in August and got a PM from mod quoting the rules, nothing's changed since then hense why I wanted to find a fair way of doing it.

Obviously certain people don't like it when people moan so oh well.

To be fair Bazz I am not sure you have much to point out. It has not been happening for ages either!! No one has had a match day thread posted with a sticky, before the agreed dates as far as I know for the past year. I think you will find Lambden and DTLW brought this up over a year ago. A format was pointed out to them and others which has been followed since. When they have been posted early, as I told Lamballana doing them early is no guarantee that they will be used. As to the standard of the match day threads we cannot help that...........Now as for your other criticism......I certainly do not object to it but it has to be justified and accurate. By all means have a moan but be accurate with what you have to say........
