WATFORDv HUDDERSFIELD TOWN Venue: Vicarage Road Date: Saturday 3 May Kick-off: 12:15 BST So the 2013-2014 season finally reaches its conclusion with both sides having nothing to play for other than pride. Watford started off with high expectations, some would say too high, after their appearance in the play-off final last year. Loss of certain players would always be a challenge, and it proved that suitable replacements were not that easy to come by. To lose a popular manager and replace him with an unknown seemed a risk, yet he has found supporters as well as critics. Huddersfield in many seasons would be facing relegation in the face, 50 points is always uncertain to keep a team in the Championship, but this season there have been a number of teams who have struggled. Mark Robins has a good reputation as a manager, but has found life difficult with the players he has available. Watford v Hudderfield. Watford won the earlier meeting 2-1 at the John Smith's Stadium in October. The Hornets have won the last three meetings, since Huddersfield's 2-1 win at Vicarage Road in the old Division One in December 2000. Form Guide. Giuseppe Sannino's side have lost their last three games, after going unbeaten in their previous six games. They have won eight of their last 10 home games in all competitions, drawing the other two. Their last defeat at Vicarage Road was 1-0 against Reading in the Championship on 11 January. Mark Robins' men have won only one of their last 12 games, drawing four and losing seven. Their only win since early March was 2-1 at Yeovil on 21 April. They have won only one of their last six away games, drawing two and losing three. Team News. Watford will be without suspended winger Albert Riera after he was sent-off against Charlton in midweek. Almen Abdi, Lewis McGugan (both knee), Manuel Almunia (Achilles), Fernando Forestieri and Chu-Young Park (both toe) are all out of the final game. Huddersfield have no new selection issues, but striker James Vaughan (knee) and midfielder Keith Southern (groin) both remain sidelined. Enjoy The Game and Have a Great Summer. It Will Soon Start Again.
Cheers OFH. This may not be a big game but I'm going and taking my son to his first game so somehow seems a lot bigger to me. I'll try and give a few updates later. A good win to end the up and down season on a high. 3-1.
Today's team Bond; Angella, Cassetti, Hoban; Anya, Murray, Tozser, Battocchio, Pudil; Deeney (C), Jakubiak. subs: Almunia (GK), Belkalem, Doyley, Faraoni, Diakite, Doherty, O'Nien. Well, there's a surprise - Jakubiak starts, Doherty and O'Nien on the bench - no better time to give youth a chance
Must admit, when he first went to Braintree and saw that unless they made the play-offs their season finished before ours, I was hoping Jakubiak would get a place on the bench today, then maybe come on for the last 10 - 15 minutes. Given how little game time he had there, I thought he wouldn't even get that.
Back home and HP up and running. Good to see Jakubiak get a start. I just hope that people don't expect too much of him today.
Huddersfield team: Smithies; Dixon, Lynch, Gerrard, Smith; Lolley, Hogg, Norwood, Clayton, Hammill; Wells Subs: Bennett, Woods, Clarke, Scannell, Gobern, Ward, Holmes
