After finding success in their first league matches Watford travel 37,5km to Stevenage to meet in the League Cup. Stevenage beat Hartlepool United by one at their Broadhall Way home with a goal from new signing Chris Whelpdale. The two teams have only met two times with Watford winning 0:2 on both occaisions, Steven McGinn and Marvin Sordell marking in the first match and Ikechi Anya and Troy Deeney in the second. The one worry is that Watford have struggled against lower division opposition in last few years, Bradford City and Bristol Rovers come to mind.

I bet Beppe uses this opportunity to rotate the squad. Got our tickets, so all set for a visit to Chavenage...

    Cheers for the Thread! :)

With Ranegie, Cathcart, Mensah, Ikpeazu and Anya out injured. Also Batocchio and Jakubiak on International duty.

    ....................Bond...................

    ........Doyley...Hoban...Doherty........

    Fabrinni..Andrews..Murray..Munari..Dyer

    .............Ighalo....Foresteri................

Might be a shout, we've got good depth to the squad. Remember Iwelumo and Garner as our two best strikers, who was the striker on the bench then!?. Wow, times have changed! Lots of competition for places.

We have sold 1,600 tickets and there will be another 200 available on the gate. Stevenage have an average of about 3,000 so it will help them out financially to have a large attendance.

Westley has a habit of getting them really up for cup ties. Remember their matches against Newcastle?

Going to be quite physical and as Jsy says they'll be keen to win - particularly if we play a lot of overseas lads.

Hate to say it but wouldn't be surprised if it went all the way.

They are certainly up for it. I'm with you Mark, our new overseas lads may be in for a surprise, especially as I think the fourth tier of English football is of a higher standard than fourth tiers in most places. Complacency could be a problem.

I can't remember us ever being able to do so in the past but I predict 11 changes from Saturday's team.
A possibility of Tamas playing but that's it.

Still looks a good team though. Stevenage will be no push over mind, hope the Horns are up for it! Maybe with Murray coming back from injury just the bench for him...

Just shows how strong a squad we have this year. So lads other than Tamas and Pudil - let's see what you've got.

Is the lad we were looking at signing from Stevenage still playing there?

I think he was a winger...
