Manchester City – Watford So where to start? The English Premier League Champions are hosting one of the better teams from the Football League Championship. On paper there should be one winner, but Tuesday’s match for Watford proved this is not always how things work. Both teams recent form is similar two defeats in the last six matches but Manchester City have won their other four games and Watford have three wins and one draw. Odd is that Watford’s failings were both in front of their own fans when Manchester City have failed one at home and once on their travels. Team News Manchester City may not have Yaya Toure or his brother Kolo who are to go to Africa for the Nations Cup to play with FÃlabeinströndin. Sergio Aguero is injured with hamstring problems and will miss this match but Javi Garcia is possibly staying with the team. Carlos Tevez might play as a replacement for Sergio Aguero. I can only add five images so there are no player pictures. This space was to be for the two Argentines Carlos Tevez and Fernando Forestieri. Watford may miss Fitz Hall after his injury at Brighton and John Eustace, Lloyd Doyley and Stephen McGinn are also not likely to be included. Nathaniel Cahlobah should feature, but you never know if Chelsea want to keep him in case they want him back for the FA Cup final. Troy Deeney and Matej Vydra will return to thestarting team in place of Alejandro Geijo and Fernando Forestieri. The Managers Roberto Mancini and Gianfranco ZolaThe managers Roberto Mancini and GZ are facing each other for the first time so there is no history to record there. Strange neither of these two played enough for their country as Roberto Baggio kept both players out of the Italian national team. Roberto Mancini "We played very well, like we played against Norwich and Sunderland, but sometimes it's not enough to play very well, it's important to score. In the first half we deserved to score two or three goals, but it was difficult because Stoke is the best defence in the Premier League. It was important to keep a clean sheet, because if we start to score and don't concede a goal we can have a chance to recover these points." Gianfranco Zola "The passing wasn't good enough, we were sloppy and it was very costly. We tried to get into the game, in the second half we did better, but sometimes it's too late. Maybe we had too many compliments (after beating Brighton) the other day and we went on the pitch with probably not the same awareness they had because they were winning all the second balls, all the headers and they found themselves 2-1 up by doing little." " The History Manchester City and Watford do not encounter very often and in 18 matches eleven have been in Manchester. The visitors have won three times in these eleven matches with the locals taking six victories, the goals count is 17:10 in favour of the hosts. Both teams best score was three and both these games were at Maine Road, Watford’s was in an FA Cup replay in february 1986.
Looking forward to the game and was thinking of an appropriate chant for 6000 happy hornets, think this would go down well: "Ã solo cantare quando si vince, cantare quando si vince, Ã cantare quando si vince......" You have to guess the melody!
...or this: Wembley, Wembley qui veniamo - Wembley, stiamo arrivando! Have to admit it sounds better in English.
Still looks good to me AK, you haven't lost your touch for creating good threads . I'm so looking forward to going to this one, any suggestions on a possible meet up pub/bar? I'm coaching it up there so not sure what time I'll be there.
another great thread Ak, thank you!!! I'm so looking forward to this though i think not having Fitz Hall will be a serious blow. However, though i don't expect us to win, if we play well, we could just pull it off...or at least earn a return match at the Vic...exciting stuff. Meanwhile, i have clearance from the police for my minibus of 17 happy Hornets (going to the Etihad at least, if not on the return journey) so all is good! COYH!!!
Will we manage a repeat of this? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jOGIh-zEFks and maybe this in the replay. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RIox0i7psw8
Like H I'll be parking in the Blue car park which limits where to go. If you don't go to the town centre or near the station then it looks like the sports bar by the shop. http://content.mcfc.co.uk/~/media/Files/CAR_PARK_PLAN_Map2012 H, what did you need clearance for?
i have no idea...apparently all minibuses and coaches have to let the police know they're travelling, and they're advised by the police of coach and minibus legislation...they were very lovely on the phone this morning..just needed to know details of where we've hired from, how many of us are travelling and where we're parking. Then they emailed me a list of do's and don'ts. i don't remember doing that before, with minibus hire..but i'm guessing it's always the same...
Could this be something in our favour? http://www.sportinglife.com/football/news/article/165/8378530/balotelli-and-mancini-in-bust-up
Not sure, I would have prefered if MB started against us but it looks likely that he will kept away from the first team while they try and get rid of him in the January window.
Nice one AK - 5 *'s as usual. I'm going with my old fav of a 1-3 win.... Hopefully this will mean the big fella is not playing.. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/20901006 There are bars around the north side of the ground as well with entertainment and fooderies - is some kind of fan zone thing. We are leaving bandit country at 08.30, a pick up in Northampton, plotting up with another bunch at Watford Gap and then zooming op' norf. Drop me a text Norway and we can meet up...
