    Pre-Season Friendly, Sunday 12th August 2012, Anfield, 15:00pm

Thought I'd have a go at a match thread with it being a friendly. In the past I have told other posters who have invaded Chris's territory that he is part of the mafia and will have people killed for this kind of liberty. Lets hope I was wrong.

    Teams.

Reina, Kelly, Enrique, Carragher, Coates, Lucas, Shelvey, Gerrard, Downing, Sterling, Suarez. Subs: Jones, Henderson, Carroll, Adam, Robinson, Spearing.

Sami Hyypia Returns for our final friendly before we move on to the serious stuff. Players will want to make the most of their last chance to impress the new manager.

One of my favourite players ever <ok> if only we'd signed him a couple of years earlier (when Robbie et al were scoring goals for fun) we would have won the league under Evans. Loved his passion, commitment, great in the air and solid on the deck with that uncanny ability to think quickly. A total pro who also played with a smile.

Can't go today unfortunately but I imagine the reception he will get will tell you everything you need to know about what Sami did for us and how highly he is thought of in these parts <applause> I wish him all the best for the future and would love to see him back at Anfield one day.

Thanks for the thread LG...and good luck dodging those mafia bullets <laugh>

I can't believe Kevin Keegan turned Sami down at Newcastle when he had him on trial. Sami was then with Mypa 47. What a mistake that was? It turned in our favour. Wonderful servant, brilliant player and model professional. That tit John Terry could learn a lot from him.

Gerard Houlliers best signing by a long long way.

Hope the roof is lifted off for Sami. Absolute legend.

He was the captain when I was first becoming aware of football properly, still remember listening to him score on the radio.

Absolute legend, would love to see him back in some capacity in the future.

His comments about Carroll weren't needed though in my opinion in his pre match talk. Seemed a bit unprofessional to me

My favourite Sami goal is the one he scored against Arsenal in the champions league quarter final at Anfield. Its the one where Ryan Babel came on as a sub and killed the tie by first winning a penalty and then scoring himself.

I expect the team today to be a lot like the team V West Brom.

I hope Allen is on the bench at least. I'd like the same line up as the last match. Unfortunately i can see adam coming in for Shelvey and possibly Carroll starting. If any changes should be made it should be Sterling in place of Downing.

I don't. I expect to see many of the players who didn't get a run against Gomel get game time. Some of the players that played thursday may get minutes. Don't forget, there is practically unlimited subs during friendlies.

@JimmyRiceWriter: Despite the fact he is not playing, Joe Allen is in the dressing room getting to know his new teammates #LFC

Actually won't mind seeing the likes of Adams & Carroll playing today. Cement in my mind if they can adapt to BR style or not. Really been assuming until we actually see it.

The early Pre season was just too early to judge.

Bit disappointed actually, glad to see Sterling

No Skrtel, Agger, Johnson, Borini, or Allen! - too much of a risk to play these when our season kicks off next weekend?
