we were marvelous, absolutely great to a man. Subs too.
Marshall good saves, no chance with the goal.
Meyler stuck to it with rashford claimed a few "Meyler" fouls.
Dawson n Harry brilliant both of them.
Josh great game. Tired at 70 his control was a bit sloppy from then and rashford gave him a going over.
Bowen played well non stop running and unlucky he didn't get that shirt away.
Hudd superb. Best player on the pitch. Worried him taking the pen though... keep it up Tom and we stay up easily.
Clucas. Non stop running. Great game.
    Dio, total effort dodgy control.
Maloney. Got a lower center of gravity than Danny de Vito!! Twists and turns were ace. Stay fit!!
Niasse Bit of a beast. Likes to Sky one into the crowd now and again.

Markovic, nutmeg with your first touch not a bad way to start your hull city career!
Evandro. Really like him. Looks like he can do anything. Calm and controlled always.
Abel. Some great play down the right.

Marco Silva. The mans a genius. This isn't possible what he's done in this short a time.

I used to like Hermans hermits, not anymore.

Only realised how lucky their goal was after watching highlights , good tackle by Tom and fell right for him , could maybe say Clucas was slower to react but that is nitpicking ... I like the way players are playing 1 and 2 touch football in tight situations , nor scared to do it when many teams at the bottom of leagues tend to just knock it long , really thought harry was going to produce one of the greatest moments of all time when he went on that late run as well

time to change our chant, before Marco thinks we don't like him?

    from: "silverware, we don't care..."
to: "Silva's here, we've got no fear..."

I think the main problem was that Rashford got behind us. Once that happens it's always going to be dangerous. Huddlestone made a good recovering tackle but he was doing it from a bad position that meant the ball was always going towards the penalty spot, exactly where Rashford would probably have wanted to put it anyway. Always a danger when the ball is pulled back from the byline like that.

Like a lot of other fans I was disappointed with the team selection. But hats off to the players and manager.

However, it does the beg the question IF we'd have played a stronger team would we now be in the EFL Final next month ?

And, if so, would that discourage any players from leaving during the transfer window ?

Just playing Devil's Advocate and all that.

As a match report add on. I will say one of the biggest dangers to PL survival is the madness of zonal marking at corners.
Second half i had an excellent view of our marking, and its madness. Absolute total insanity, sorry Marco, but it is.
Dawson is frozen out of the play as he's positioned between the near post and the centre of the goal on the 6 yard line. Our best CB isnt involved as all the corners were hit to the far post. And why wouldnt a team do that?
The sight of the full team lined up down the 6 yard line with Tymon on the post!! WTF We're leaving Ibra to wander around in the gap and stand in front of Marshall!! With no one goal side of him. Crazy.
I think we were lucky not to concede and teams will identify that. Weve seen Niasse, Dio and Clucas all be poor at the back post. Meylers height helped here and Harry coped but it is ridiculous.
    Rant over.

I don't get Zonal marking , as they say , space doesn't score goals so why mark it

Said the same first match ..... it's the price you pay for sexy continental football, ''they'' say that once defenders get it off pat it's every bit as effective as man-for-man. Personally, I like ownership at corners ''he's yours, mark him, if he scores I'm gonna **** ya (not literally)'' ...... but I am old, and insignificant and certainly not as versed in the nuances of modern football as our resident wannabes.

Exactly a good delivery and an opponent that's good in the air, you'll never react in time. Man to man, goal side and touch tight for me every time.

Zonal does seem to be a bit of a continental preference for corners when marking.

IMO we have looked better at set pieces with zonal marking than we did man for man. Zonal allows you to attach the ball better, and you get less shirt pulling. I am neither for or against, but we were ****e at set pieces under MP, and seem better under MS.
