hmmmm, what to say.. after so many 1-0 wins it was inevitable that at some point we would come unstuck and end up with only a point when we should have, and very easily could have , all three.

This was a match that will not live for very long in the memory of those that were there. We were okay and that's about it.

The second minute deflected goal from Bobby Reid made the sunblest Home Park crowd relax into their seats thinking this would be another comfortable home win- and it should have been. Reid (the bobby variety) looked lively and was obviously enjoying being back at Argyle. In addition to his early goal he could have had two more before half time but wasted both opportunities. To be fair, York are a decent team who tried to play very much like Argyle and passed the ball well without really troubling the goal (albeit there was was a couple of nervous moments).

Much of the same in the second half, a bitty ,scrappy affair with neither side really playing to their potential, some indifferent refereeing/linesmans decisions didn't help but equally didn't influence the result too much. Mellor improved after an average first half hour and almost doubled the lead with an exceptional lob that beat the keeper and just drifted wide of the post.

All looked well until the last minute when Mellor was adjudged to have obstructed one of their players (and was also carded for the offence); the resulting free kick was eventually bundled in, despite an initial save from Luke and some debate about whether the ball went out of play in the build up.

A disappointing result I suppose, with most players scoring no more than 7 out of 10, or is it 1 point closer to safety? No exceptional performances and the MOTM could have been any one of B.Reid, Allessandra or Mellor. Reuban had an 'off day' but I refuse to criticize the top scorer; without doubt the defence looked less assured without the injured Mchugh.

Grumpy because we didn't win but still 6th, and nice to see ex-greens Zubar and Summerfield acknowledging the crowd after the game.

Got our tickets for Sheffield so a rare away and late report next week.

I was bitterly disappointed in the end lyndhurst. As you rightly say this could have and should have been an easy win by a comfortable margin. Our keeper had little to do and the shots he did save were more or less down his throat and not hard. Wasteful up front with all of them bolloxing what could have been goals. The one we got was viciously deflected and to some extent very lucky. First half we passed the ball and were comfortable. York tried to do the same but we were better at it. Really comfortable at the back. A different set of players came out after the break for the umpteenth time. We still passed it about but only when we had it which wasn't half as often. In other words it looked like we sat back on a slender lead. I don't think it was a foul or free kick at the end but to be fair to York we could hardly complain they took a point. We threw away 2. despite us still being 6th tonight it was not good enough. Officials were not very good but apart from the dodgy free kick at the end I agree they didn't influence it much. Half time points award I would have given them 7. Full time that slips to 4/5 and should do better.
