An outstanding game of football between two in form sides that were definitely up for it. The tempo of the first 20 mins was frantic and slowed very little throughout. Both sides pressed high up the pitch and kept going from first whistle to last. Reuben scored two excellent goals and missed two others that were arguably easier, and Tope could have more life less stressful after bursting into the box and smacking the ball in the keeper's face rather than the back of the net or crossing to reid. Their goal came from long range shot which was deflected passed cole by Andres G. they also hit the bar, but other than that, although they threatened throughout, Cole was relatively untroubled-but still made life difficult by refusing to leave his 6 yard box. Great performances throughout the Argyle team, Conor H and Trotman were excellent but am going to give my MotM to Wottsie if only because he maintained a calmness throughout and made lots of difficult things look simple. Chesterfield are are good team and their attacking intent is one obvious reason why they were top of the table prior to tonight BUT 'they don't like it up em'. There were a few niggly fouls and flash points in the match and the ref did quite well to keep 22 players on the pitch- most refs would have issued at least 2 reds; one for a bad late challenge on blanchard and one of their players could easily have had 3 yellows instead of 1. Not quite the battle of saltergate but no surprise when it all boiled over at the final whistle possibly something to do with Wotton but not sure what exactly. Only downside was Alessandra departing in the first half with what might be a hamstring-tope looked like a poor replacement for him. Argyle in a play off place- who would have thought.....bring on Accrington and then of course that small team just up the road.
