Fixing of some sorts going on in the Championship and League One and boasting about how he could fix premier league matches or even games at the World Cup. How much truth do you think there are in his statements and how much do you thinkhe was blwoing hot air to try and make some cash?

A few years ago the worlds attention was around match fixing, times have moved on and the gambling revolution that took place in the early 1990s allows us to bet on individual events that can be easily manipulated.

Does no-one remember the W Ham kick off at Old Trafford when McCavennie smashed it directly into row X ?
That was a spread betting coup where a syndicate sold the time of the first throw in at 80 seconds, you may not be surprised to hear that none other than Harry Rednapp was in on this when 4 new accounts were opened in the days leading up to this game who all turned out to be relatives of 'Arry.

It's so easy to do and rarely affects the outcome of the game.
Taking a booking, giving away a corner, and a million other events that could happen during a game of football can be easily manipulated and are very difficult to spot.
Betfair have a team of 90 investigators working full time to identify unusual betting patterns but it's the unregulated markets in India the Far East in particular that are harder to detect.

It's been going on for at least 20 years and won't be stopping any time soon - be honest, a Conference South player earning £150 a week from his club and spending 40 hours a week delivering parcels is going to be tempted by the lure of £5k or more for what seems a fairly insiginificant event....
