Italian football is well known for corruption, but the rot goes deeper than that. Apparently organised by a crime syndicate in Asia is instrumental in it. The corruption includes players, match officials and club staff across Europe and there are 425 people implicated in it. One player was apparently payed 140,000 euros for fixing a match. Sad state of affairs.

Could be our 3 first half goals against Milan. :O
They had already won 4-0 at home.

I don't think it will be Milan though.

It's gonna be interesting to see where this story leads and who is implicated. There are a few people currently ****ting their pants at the imminent revelations.

The one game in England that springs to mind is the Chavs v Barca game from a few years ago

It'll be interesting if England gets sucked into all the seedy Italian match fixing saga. It's not beyond belief that this could be true. After all if cricket is anything to go by, quite a few countries were involved when the Hansie Cronje affair kicked off. Lets not forget he was seen as a much respected character.

It was ridiculous. However, when Chelsea were leading, Barca had a man sent off. Surely the Ref would have avoided sending him off had he wanted them to win?

To be honest, Chelsea weren't the only ones to get screwed over playing Barca. I still can't forget when RVP got sent off for kicking the ball, 1 second after the whistle went. Bloody rediculous decision especially when it's so friggin noisy as well!!!

But compare that to the other incidents. The ref may have known he'd farked up with the sending off and thus didn't give us any decisions after that! Some of the penalties we should have got were so blatant it was ridiculous! But UEFA hold Barca dear to their heart just like when you also got farked over by them with the RVP not hearing the whistle etc...

I agree entirely that it was ridiculous. I watched the penalty appeals earlier today to refresh my memory, and it's horrific, Chelsea were royally screwed out of it, but I don't think it was a fix - perhaps that's just my optimistic side coming out (how rare!).

What really irks me, is that the referees assitants barely EVER seem to get involved in these things. We've seen LOADS of incidents of the assitant being closer than the ref yet failing to act, and it's even worse with those guys behind the goal with their lightsabres. They need to step up and take some serious responsibility.

The RVP whistle incident is possibly one of the worst injustices I have seen in terms of a referee not showing 1 gram of common sense. It seemed that he was under pressure to make sure we were at a disadvantage and bingo he found his moment. When you think about human behaviour and you analyse the ref in that game you can see his sending off of RVP was the reaction of someone who is operating at a highly strung level (due to pressure) when infact referees are meant to be the calming force on the pitch.

Chelsea vs Barca (as much as I dislike them) was also a complete farce. It was funny at the time to watch the chavs suffer but in retrospect they were subject to some of the worst refereeing you will ever see in a champions league tie.

Just to add i don't think it's Barca who are implicated in this scandal because I think their success is orchestrated (on some occasions) at a much higher level than a crime syndicate.

If there was ever a time i wanted a referee to be bitch slapped, was that whistle incident. It was such a non-incident that you thought, what a F-er, he's trying his all to give Barca an advantage and ruin a perfectly good game. A sending off should only be a serious incident in my opinion. Think before you send anyone off, even if it's going to 2 yellow cards. Some referees are such dumbasses.

I reckon it was both of the spuds & Real Madrid Champion League games. No way the spuds would have only lost by 5 goals over 2 legs unless it was bent. Even we put 10 past them and we were only in 2nd gear.

    "It's a ****ing disgrace" <laugh>

Also as mentioned the RVP sending off.

As for corruption in the game, It looks endemic as it seems to be through most sports, it's a ****ing sad state of affairs, but where there's big money, there will be people trying to exploit it in whatever way they can.
