Again, another rather late effort so it's a bit lacking in content. Bassong starts for us (otherwise unchanged), Demba Ba up front for Chelsea. Norwich: Ruddy; Martin, Bassong, Turner, Olsson; Howson, Tettey, Fer; Pilkington, Snodgrass, van Wolfswinkel. Subs: Bunn (GK), Whittaker, Johnson, Hooper, Elmander, Redmond, R Bennett. Chelsea: Cech; Ivanovic, D Luiz, Terry (c), Cole; Ramires, Lampard; Oscar, Mata, Schurrle; Ba Subs: Schwarzer, Azpilicueta, Cahill, Essien, Willian, Hazard, Eto’o
Mourinho on his decision to start Ba : "The thinking is that first of all he works hard. He is a good professional and good professionals deserve respect and deserve a chance now and then. Also this is a typical English match, on a small pitch against an opponent that plays quite aggressive and we believe this game is adapted for someone who has lots of matches in the Premier League." quite aggressive? has he seen us play?
With any luck, City will go 'all out' to get a goal back, open the game up and make it worth watching
On a positive note, Fer and Snodgrass have both tried to pick RvW out along the floor so far, and both would have created excellent chances if they'd got through. Hopefully it's a sign that we're beginning to work out how to use the Wolf.
If we can defend well, we will get chances today as Chelsea are throwing numbers forward all the time
Well, I think we improved as the half went on, and hopefully the sun will cause Cech not Ruddy problems in the second half.
Yup, other than perhaps the first 15, we have been pretty good - just a shame Chelsea are a class apart, especially Ba & Luiz. Of course JT is doing what JT does and the back line is so hard to break down.
Shame really because with Hart playing so badly you could argue this is as good a chance as Ruddy has to put pressure onto being England's number 1
