nbc soccer NBC Sees Net Gains in QPR Man City and DC United RBNY TV Viewing Audience Numbers

The TV viewing figures are in for last Saturday’s double-header of soccer that was televised on the free-to-air NBC network.

The 12:30-2:30pm ET game between Queens Park Rangers and Manchester City was watched by an average of 908,000 people.

Meanwhile, the 2:30-4:30pm ET broadcast of the MLS playoff between DC United and New York Red Bulls netted an average of 607,000 viewers which, by MLS standards, is a considerable-sized audience.

Compared to NBC’s fourth-quarter average viewing audience for Premier League matches, the QPR-Manchester City 2-2 draw saw a 31% increase in audience size.

Saturday’s MLS playoff match saw a 9% increase from NBC’s 2013 MLS Playoff average.

Without meaning to be a complete party pooper, I would imagine that any late kick off here has higher than average viewing figures in the states due to time differences...

It was Saturday lunch on the East Coast and 9am on the West Coast! Compared to their "College American Football" the viewers of our game is minuscule, I'm sure.....

Not sure it's any indication of Qpr supporters there either, could all be City fans or just want to see a decent standard of football!!

But our 3pm kick offs are at 10am on the East Coast and 7am on the West Coast, hence my point that a later kick off will attract a higher number. The West Coast is awake - of course you get a 31% increase in audience size!

The figs are a comparison to previous games of the same time. All games this season are shown live on TV here.

This is our Ed Sullivan Show moment. Like the Beatles, QPR have now cracked The States.

I say we enjoy the moment, before the inevitable "Joey Barton claims football is bigger than Jesus" backlash comes along.

I agree in principle, but by 1pm, a KT of college games are under way, and trust me. College Football is a freaking religion over here.

The amount of money these (essentially) amateur athletes bring in to their colleges is ridiculous- they have similar turnovers to the Arsenals and Liverpools of this world.

So Houston, are you suggesting that games over here are watched by the same people in England, people who didn't go to college?

Golden cape a narrow white pebble beach in Croatia The shape of the beach shifts with the changes in tide currents and wind - looks like a nice place for a bit of R&R.
