Evening guys! If reports are to be believed it looks like we're getting your youngster Massimo Luongo on loan for next season... http://www.twtd.co.uk/news.php?storyid=21066&title=tottenham_midfielder_luongo_set_for_town_loan Never seen him play, so hoping you could give your opinion of him, strengths, weaknesses, etc...would a season in the Championship with us be beneficial for all concerned?
He's a favourite of Tim Sherwood, who would always make time to praise what he was doing in the NexGen side and Academy/Spurs XI games. He's certainly a long-term prospect for us and has gotten into the match squad a few times, although his only notable contribution on the pitch so far was missing in the shoot-out against Stoke in the Carling Cup last season. He did mention the loan on his Twitter, but it was taken down: http://twitter.com/Mass_L
As Croydon's said, he's one of our more highly rated youth prospects, who always seems to get a mention in post-match interviews. He's playing tonight in Italy, so perhaps something will be made official over the next couple of days?
He's come a long way in the last year or so with us. A full season in the Championship might be a little too soon for him but it's good to see we're giving him the opportunity to continue to test and improve himself at a quick pace with us. How are you guys fixed for centre mids, will he get many chances?
Good question...I'd have thought that our midfield is ok, Luke Hyam, Andy Drury, Jimmy Bullard (if he plays to his potential), Lee Martin, Jay Emmanuel Thomas... I'm hoping that Brian Klug has spotted something special in this lad and that's why (it looks like) we're getting him for next season!
Still going mate...
Wouldn't personally want him to go to Ipswich, after some of the 'football' they played last season but that's just my opinion.
Gazza-esque in physique / pace / dribbling (IMHO) . "would a season in the Championship with us be beneficial for. all concerned?" This kind of loan is becoming a rite of passage for many of the Spurs kids. If he helps propel Ipswich upwards then tis a win-win
Ipswich do tend to bring out something in our kids - Livermore had a short stint there a couple of seasons back, GDS looked sharp when he was there - so this may work out well, as long as he gets his fair share of games. I'm wondering who we'll loan to Millwall, since they get a lot of our youngsters.
Andros Townsend was good for us a couple of seasons ago, unfortunately Keane never used him to his full loan potential which is probably why he was recalled...on his day could rip it up the wing...
This boy can play. He is arguably, our brightest prospect and it is interesting to see that a member of our academy staff has recently moved to Ipswich and this is the first player he has moved for. Luongo has a real bite to his tackles, is keen to get stuck in and is very good at breaking up play. Having won possession, he rarely gives the ball away and can create as well. He has good first touch and has good vision. As has previosly been mentioned, he is highly rated by the Spurs caching staff, and I have no doubt he will get regular football at Ipswich even though it is a considerable step up for him.
Spurcat From your description he's sounding like an Alonso type, would that be fair? Whats his distribution like, and does he run with it and get forward?
We wanted Harry Kane back as he had a good partnership with Keogh up front but Sherwood said he is not going on loan.
Luongo looks like an all action midfielder from the brief bits I've seen of him. Decent on the ball, decent in the tackle and if I remember correctly he usually captains the Spurs XI team so clearly has some leadership qualities. Think he definitely has a good future in the game, hopefully with us. Really think he can shine for you guys this season if played in the right set up. All the best
