NO MATTER what happens with QPR Sunday â a massive clear-out of up to 14 players is expected to start as early as Monday. The Rsâ Premier League survival may depend as much on the result between Stoke and Bolton as their own game against Manchester City at The Etihad as the season comes to a nail-biting finale. Even if does end happily ever after for the club, it is almost certainly the end for a number of stalwarts. Lee Cook, Radek Cerny, Danny Gabbidon, Fitz Hall, Patrick Agyemang, Peter Ramage, Danny ****tu and Kieron Dyer are all out of contract, and Rangers will look to sell Brian Murphy, Rob Hulse, Angelo Balanta, Matt Connolly and Troy Hewitt in the first wave of exits. The futures of first-team regulars Clint Hill and Heidar Helguson are far from certain, with the Icelander one of six forwards available to boss Mark Hughes. One of the half-dozen, Jay Bothroyd, has also failed to find a regular slot after moving from Cardiff last summer. Sparky admitted this week he expects to make a raft of changes in the close season, just as he did at his three previous clubs. âEvery club will look at their current staff and what they need to build and get stronger,â he told the Chronicle. âAnd that wonât change no matter what club Iâm at. âWeâre looking to make it stronger and that means a number of players will go as a result.â The fewest new faces Hughes added after he took over a club was five â and that was at Fulham where his only season in charge ended when he indicated the neighbours were not as ambitious as he hoped. Nothing new there really. First things first though, lets stay up and the whole clear out and incomings should be much more interesting.
Never rated Cook, although some people loved him. However I think Ramage and Connolly should stay unless TT is signing.
He completely carried the team for quite a while a few years back. Obviously not the same player since the injuries but a genuine Rangers legend in my eyes. Hill is definitely worth another year whichever league we're in. Connolly and Helguson would be worth keeping in the Championship for sure as I think Helguson would rather get first-team football, probably at Watford, if we stay up.
Didn't u read Cerny is out of contract so he wont be back,Oh our Cerny,oh he'll be back for sure probably at 5.05pm with all the latest transfer news. Cant wait
Any one of us could have come up with that list, its not news. Id be impressed if he named a couple of surprises in there and they happened. DJC and SWP would be my choices for the surprises.
Forgot most of those players were still with us to be honest. That's lazy sh*t from that Journo. Anyone could have told us that.
Most of us could have written that piece ourselves. I'm guessing the journo didn't even have to leave his bedsit.
Connolly made a reasonable contribution to the promotion success last year, but latterly looked low in confidence. We've had far worse players but I'm afraid I wouldn't keep him.
Connolly has been living off his potential for far too long, hes too lightweight and indecisive to be a PL player. Hes a defensive version of Ephraim.
This first part of the "article" in the Fulham Chronicle could have been lifted directly from the pages of several of the QPR boards.
Swp has been poor to say the least after a couple of good games to start. A few flashes of what he could do but has been far from expectation. However he could do a job as a squad player which he has been for last half dozen games or so. Just take Sunday when he can come on and run at tired legs. Keep him as a squad player I say!
On 50k a week? Its not just ability but value for money that comes into the equation, Id rather replace SWP with a starter and have Mackie on sub 20k to come on to run at people in the latter stages.
