Looks like we're making enemies with some people...... http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19...tml?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter "The way they operated is totally unacceptable. Tsepo had his heart set on a move to England. "But Konchesky doesn't need a work permit, which was going to take 20 days for Tsepo, he is experienced in England and Eriksson knows him much better. "This is unfortunately the situation, but I don't think Leicester have dealt with this issue in the proper way." Pretty damning stuff really. Especially when the likes of Peterborough and individuals like Nugent and Mills have commented on how well we have dealt with negotiations. Must admit, if what the agent is saying is true, it doesn't makes us come across at all well, and might deter some foreign players in signing. And it gives some more ammo to commentators and pundit....... P.S. On the plus side, it meant we got Paul Konchesky 70% cheaper
It was taking soooo looong for that to go through, maybe if the agent had done all he could for the player as quickly as possible, he would have his work permit by now. But since we have Konchesky now, theres no doubt that he would only have featured as a sub.
Liverpool paid £3m for him and he had a nightmare season and had to drop to the Championship, you seriously think his price went up? Dream on.
Originallambrettaman. Who is to say that the '70% cheaper' part of that article isn't 70% off the 1.5m bid we had offered?
You seriously think Liverpool were asking £5m for a player that had cost them £3m and proved to be not good enough?
Surely the 70% relates to the £2 million we would've paid next year for Masilela as a permanent transfer? £2 million for a player in a duff league with no English football experience, or a player for £1.5 million with 350 Premier League games to his name, even including 19 below par performances for Liverpool, has to be a no brainer for me.
I love my misses but I could still kill her lol We used to have a Leeeeeds fan on our bbc606 board all the time, we ended up making him one of our own...sort of. Can anyone remember his user name ? for the life of me I can´t think of it.
"But when Liverpool saw that Tsepo was going to sign, they reduced their price by 70 per cent for Konchesky. If you paid £1.5m and that was due to Liverpool reducing their price by 70%, then the original price was £5m. Your arithmetic is nearly as poor as your English.
Good point. Soooo we got ......3.5 million off ? even better. Well done SGE on yet another top bit of transfer business. Again I´ve got to say it... "Give SGE a full summer´s transfer window & watch him go" "SGE´S BLUE & WHITE ARMY"
In other words Liverpool bartered their price down? Nice!! And OriginalLambrettaMan - get a proper bike!
Nice one. Personal insults, very mature and a sign of clear intelligence. 70% off and you seem to be making it out to be bad business for a player who played in the 2010 europa league final.
If you consider that a personal insult, you've led a very sheltered life. If he was worth £5m and you got him for £1.5m, then it would have been good business, but he was never £5m to start with. I can image you buy all your furniture from DFS and think all those 70% off deals are genuine.
An insult is an insult, however bad it is. I actually have dyslexia so yes, it is a personal insult toward me. Secondly, where has it said we paid 1.5m. We had an offer on the table of 1.5m before wednesday so maybe 70% off that?
and you had a go at mefor being on hulls board?? when infact i was only on threads which involved you lot talking about leicester. Why are you so obsessedmate. You arein no placetolaugh at our signings when so far you have signed a defender we didnt want and two 30-something donkeys from notts forest. Konchesky had one bad season at a club he didnt fit into, but for west ham and fulham, and charlton he was solid with a very good left foot,1.5m for a prem defender is not bad.
