Not sure if anyone else has been listening to 5Live in the last hour; they have been having a discussion about young players and discussing the merits on young players moving from clubs where they are first teamers to bigger clubs where chances will be more limited. Marvin's agent, Sky Andrews, was on and he was asked about what young players he looks after and how they sit in the debate that they were having. He gave Marvin as an example, cited how many goals he scored last season and said there would be an issue soon when a bigger club comes in as a choice has to be made regarding development. That said he did quickly say that the best thing for Marvin was to stay at Watford and play first team football and develop but he points out that it would be a difficult decision. Not trying to cause more panic and gloom after recent days but I thought it was quite an interesting discussion and with us having a lot of talented youngsters quite pertinent to us as a club.
Monday: Buckley Tuesday: Graham Wednesday: Winter Thursday: Malky Friday: take your pick from Sordell, Loach, Eustace and Cowie. I would have been laughed at for writing that list three days ago. Now it will send a shiver down the spine of anyone reading it that hasn't realised that I'm just making it up. It could yet happen.
As an arch pessimist, I might be tempted to add M. Taylor to Friday's list, NNW. Regarding Sordell's agent, I suspect he's on manoeuvres. And I'm inclined to distrust any agent who refers to decisions regarding a transfer as 'difficult': so long as the move entails a good signing on fee for both player and agent together with an increased wage, I can make an educated guess as to what an agent would recommend. However, taking off the Watford specs for a second, I wouldn't blame an agent for advising a client to leave what looks to be, from the outside at least, a sinking ship.
I agree Lars. Not listing Taylor wasn't an oversight: I think he's the fifth most likely player to go (ignoring ex-academy professionals that have hardly played such as Kiernan) and felt like stopping at four.
To be fair, I don't think Marvin is going anywhere soon listening to it (notwithstanding the trustworthiness of agents) and as I put it up more about the debate about what is better for young players which is what the segment of the show was about.
