Over my dead body, he's keeping put, only just come back from a serious injury, doubt there will be anyone looking, plus he's a Bristol boy now. So jog on and we and Marvin will enjoy another 6 points from you this year
Sorry Shiny but you might have to become a Millwall fan as if they would offer over £1m I would take it. For me Skuse is the key player to our midfield and was one of the players that saved us last season so would be my first choice in teh team. Hopefully DM has noted that as was pleased with the performances. If we can get some decent money for Elliott that money could be re-invested in a midfielder who could score 10+ goals a season as well as assisting goals, or just pay off some of our growing debt. Plus given how serious his injury was and the other injuries he has had before you cant rule out any further injuries this season so might as well cash in. Saying that Millen tried to cash in on Fontaine last season whos move fell apart because he couldnt pass the medical so who knows if Elliott would also pass a medical at the moment
Marv is all guts and thunder but has no finesse. He's clearly good to have when we're in a battle and need to knock a few opponents about but really has no passing skills that we need. If we get a decent offer, sell him. I agree that Skuse is the focal point now.
I dont think he can pass or head the ball, he breaks play up well and gets forward but then closses his eyes. I would have Skuse in my team all day long over Marv. I do admire his commitment to the club though, If he stays I hope they his confidence to as I said keep his eyes open and look up to see who to pass too.
tbh i dont know where this bad passing things come from, it seems someones said it and now everyone just agreed, i could understand if he made stupid passes that go no where but he doesnt. as for this skuse debate he was brought in at the end and played very well, but whose to say marvin wouldnt of been the same, Marv can score us 7+ goals a season skuse can't, give i marv every day of the week !
okay one problem saying skuse won't score 7 goals a season if he keeps up llike he did last season he will score more than 7 . the problem with marvs passing he alright if it short but if someone is in space ahead of him he can't seem to find em and a few times the ball gets stuck between his feet
Passing isnt his greatest strength but that does make him a bad player. His strengths lie in his defensive game and his stamina and pace. Which is why i can see why he started off as a defender at millwall. Gets goals from headers in the box. A skill that if he could improve could double his goals as his positioning is great and gets so many free headers but just cant get the ball on target enough times. But id still love to see him tried in the centre of defence to see if he has the skills as good at tackling, positioning and wins the ball in the air, surely that what we want from a defender
i look at it as who would i rather play against, skuse or elliott, and i would rather play against skuse, knowing youve got the ball and seeing marvin run at you. i just cant see what skuse brings to the table that marvin doesnt?
I think Skuse is better all round player on his day. But with Marv you get more consistency, you know what your gonna get when he crosses the white line..
Marv's goal scoring stats for the last 5 seasons are: 5,3,1,8,2. Weighing in at an average of 3.8 goals a season. Neither Skuse/Marv/Kilkenny/anyone we have can genuinely be called a regular goal scoring midfielder. George Boyd's goals scored are 12,10,12,15,7 for the last 5 seasons for comparison, alibi some in league 1. Whittingham being another example scoring 12,11,20 for the last 3 seasons. We don't have a real threat from CM, would be nice to but at the end of the day if the supply from the midfield was better then our forwards would easily replace the goals that Marv and Skuse score. Skuse and Marv both make a nuisance of themselves, put themselves about and basically do the same thing. I like Skuse more as he's two footed and better in possesion imo. Could see a middle three next year being -----Morris---- Skuse--- Pearson If Cisse doesn't sign a new deal.
I would hate to play against Skuse, the number of last ditch tackles he made last season when other players had lost their man was ridiculous. Skuse's timing going in to tackles is on another level. Wouldn't particularly enjoy playing against either mind, Marv's fecking huge.
Yeah i'm assuming so. As Morris is a holding player I guess he's the replacement but no idea what kind of player he actually is at all.
I may be completely wrong Just thought he played more defensively for St Johnstone. Be interesting to see who else we get in through the door, no rumours about Cunningham until day he signed so may well be a few surprises.
i may be completely wrong too you could be right though, he hasnt got a load of goals for st johnstone, It seems nobody knows who were getting, like the Richard foster deal, Cnningham came out of the blue, and tbh i prefer it that way, although some of the names we've been linked too McCormack's, Suso's etc i would love to see but im sure del will bring in the right players
