I don't think his contract will be renewed as he is on a lot of money and past his heyday.
It looks like goodbye Marvin, you've been a good servant over these years.

Yes, I agree it doesn't seem as if we will see him in our red shirt again.

He has been a fantastic all action midfielder for us and will deserve every bit of praise he will eventually get. his last 2 goals may be the difference for us this season, that in itself would be a fitting tribute.

Thanks marv, 200 games.. in every single one of them you put in 100%, not many footballers can say that

But I think it's time he moved on, imo I hope the club don't offer him a contract

I've never been shy in my opinion of Marv the silky passing footballer. But his heart is a the biggest this club has seen for years.
And I'm going to shock a lot of you now, but I hope he does get another contract because in league one this is his level now (not saying he wasn't a few years back Championship level). I think even with a wage reduction here would be more than most clubs would pay so hopefully he stays.
Excellent impact sub as he can hustle the opposition and we need his heart, I would offer one or two years extension with a wage decrease.
He's one of a few that kisses the badge that I actually believe he means it.

i hope he gets a 2 year one. Hes not "deadwood" like the others and he still has something to give. Every team needs a marv

It will be a shame if he doesn't get a 1 or 2 year extension but if he doesn't, his 2 goals against Carlisle might just prove to be his biggest ever contribution if we stay up

His best days are behind him, but he is not old by footballing standards- he cannot expect to get anything like the same money he is on, but if he is willing to take a big drop in wages (Unlikely to get a good a deal anywhere else), then I would be quite happy for something to be worked out.

A 1-2 year contract would probably suit all parties.

I'd renew his contract, definitely. He's been an outstanding servant for the club, and at this level he can still do a job.

The only silver lining I can see from this injury is that it might persuade the club to look into bleeding the youth a bit. We've got a ton of players that could probably do a good job at this level, or at least deserve a chance. It pisses me off that the owners talk about the academy all the time, but still refuse to put any of them in the first team. If we don't play them now we'll lose them.

I think He will be a more popular proposition to other clubs than we may think.

Footballers sometimes need a new challenge, the fact he hasn't been offered anything publicly here would suggest to me he already knows he's off.

I would be surprised if he didn't get another 1 year contract. As said, he does still possess an air of class, even if the days of building a side around him are long gone. Impact sub is about right, and even training assistant.
Every club needs die hards on their staff, and Elliott has earned the right to regard himself in that group.
Just hope he has ambitions in that direction, and realistic expectations as far as his salary

I have a gut feeling that Marv has either been told he’s not wanted by the idiot Cotterill or he has been tapped up by another club.
All this bollocks about being an ‘impact sub’ is utter tripe.

If we manage to stay up then Marv deserves a contract to fight for a place with Pack and Kelly doing the uglier part of C M.
I’m yet to be convinced about Kelly but just hope he’s as good as RODney thinks.

The most praise I can give Marvin Elliot is that stands second to Gerry Gow in my time of watching BCFC.
To be fair Marv was better in the air and quicker than Gowie - I can’t put my finger on it but there was just something about Gerry Gow – the best midfielder we’ve ever seen at Ashton Gate.

Welcome back Redprintt, you miserable bast*rd :)wink:)

Gerry Gow was certainly the best I've seen at the Gate. However, I can't put Marv even in the same sentence as him.

Have you ever played the game?

The likes of Stead, Heaton and Skuse wernt offered anything until the summer but all 3 wanted to go. Hope its not the same thing for Marv and Cotts can get something sorted!
