I think it's a real shame he was probably my favorite player last season and i'de say he was a big part of why we stayed up last season when there was no cabaye in the team, his vision is great and he can run at defenders similar to benny....although he didnt look like he was bothered the other night can u blame him? after how well he played last season he was cast aside by pardew as soon as new faces arrived...as much as i love goufran he has no where near the same flair as this guy. Same goes to benny pardew seems to have sucked the life out of him to get him to defend more and not encourage him to do both...dont see where the team is heading under pardew but as much as i hate to say it it looks like he wants to take a pulis approach with big guys upfront and hard workers in the midfield with no real flair or creativity...de jong gomis? writings on the wall..

It would be interesting to see a quote by Pards explaining his decision.
Marv must have done something wrong big time.
That aside, events like this really don't help team harmony as Marv will have supporters in the dressing room surely.

    Amen to that.

I remember Shearer being heavily out of sorts under Gullit... and then SBR came along and the next game he got 5. :)

It's a marriage of convenience as Pards is on a cushy number conract wise..... he's a mid table manager.... MA has only got ambitions for mid table and doesn't want to pay high wages for a top manager.
I'm convinced that we are riding the benefit of the early season form too much. We have, for some time since then shown relegation form. The alarm bells are there but it seems no one is listening.

real shame because we could have been challenging for 5th if we had the tiniest of ambition we were one or two players away from a great team ...but seems were doomed to be the footballing equivalent to sports direct...efficient and unglamorous but always there...

Pardew has already lost the dressing room completely, his time at the club is coming to an end I think. He clearly lacks the charisma and doesn't allow players he signed for there flare and personality use any of it.

When Pulis signs a player, its someone like Crouch. A player who is tall, can get on balls and score when needed. When he signs a midfielder its someone like Charlie Adams, someone strong and can make a good pass.

Pardew, signs Cisse, Cabaye, Ben Arfa, Marv, Gouffran all to play a boring, drilled out football style. A style none of them players expected to play. It's absurd, Pardew has to be moved on soon.

do you know what i find funniest...do you remember when we signed cabaye and he was quoted as saying he was drawn to the project by the style of football we would be playing....wonder what happened there

No,you're getting it wrong - all this is Ashley's fault. Somehow.

Can't say I'm surprised, don't rate him at all. Never done it for me and injured a lot. Just disappears most of the time and while gifted, just can't seem to raise himself to give a ****. Not what we need the level we're at. Another I'd offload as soon as possible. We took a punt, it was one which hasnn't worked out.

That said for him to train with the kids means he must have done something wrong. I doubt we'll ever know as these things are nearly always (and should be) kept in house.

Don't buy all this lost the dressing room bollocks. Just sounds like an excuse for underperforming players.

Pardew has a history of attracting flair players to a club that plays boring, direct football. Ask West Ham fans. The sooner this clown goes along with his pimp the better we will be.

At what point, for you, does Pardew shoulder the blame for what is happening on the pitch? As per the Villa matchday thread, a possible 4-4-2 is Krul, Debuchy, Colo, MYM, Dummett, Sissoko, Anita, Tiote, Sammy/Gouffran, Armstrong/Cisse, Remy. The bench includes Santon, Haidara, Ben Arfa. Is there any excuse whatsoever for a mediocre performance on Sunday? Not if the manager hasn't lost the dressing room.

I agree with Hacky in that Marveaux is crap. However, Pardew hasn't given him a chance nor are the tactics suited to players such as Marveaux.

Pardew always has to shoulder the blame and the credit for what is happening on the pitch. I have never said any different.

However sometimes there is only so much a manager can do. Some of it has to come from the individual. Look at Debuchy and Willo. Willo is not the most gifted and had a torturous spell last year. He was supported by the manager and has responded by kicking himself up the arse and doing it on the pitch. Debuchy had a difficult start but Pardew was brave and stuck by him. he has rewarded him by turning iit around. HBA and Marveaux have had plenty of support publically and privately from the manager and coaches. HBA keeps rocking up fat! Professionalism should not have to be instilled by the manager, its these guys job. Marveaux has been given opportunity in his time here, he just has never taken them.

As for mediocre performances, I think it has been a bit worse than that of late to be honest. It has been rank poor. We've had players out and tough games but its not an excuse. Manager, coaches and players are the only people who can put that right. However you have to be realistic, we are no more than a mid table side on paper. Therefore there are going to be some mediocre performances and poor runs along the way. As frustrating as it is that's where we are as a club. We have had a serious dip of late and hopefully we can turn it around against Villa. There are no guarantees.

We're actually achieving what everyone hoped we would at this stage, top 10. That is despite pocketing 22m for our best player and fulcrum of the team.

I think it is perfectly fair to call him crap - seen him numerous times and on numerous times he goes missing. Lightweight but not skillful enough to use it to his advantage. He is a championship player at best or one of those big fish in a small pond players
