Wigan manager Roberto Martinez accused Luis Suarez of a stamp after the Liverpool striker's match-winning performance at Anfield. The Wigan manager claimed the Uruguayan stamped on Latics midfielder David Jones in the 63rd minute of the match, which Liverpool won 3-0. "He was very fortunate because there was a stamp on David Jones that the referee didn't see," Martinez said. "That wasn't the sign of a top player. He was fortunate today. He was lucky." http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/20381086
Doesn't surprise me anymore, it's the sort of tackle that happens a few times a match normally, nothing more nothing less, and yes it was a yellow card. Saying that, it doesn't bother me, let everyone take a pop at Suarez and we'll cheer him on and watch him tear teams apart, everyone's happy.
People just love to pick on him. Everyone realise how brilliant he is and now the top goalscorer, they are just jealous and all the media is trying to unsettle him. I don't think he cares though. On the tackle, could have got a yellow maybe if the ref saw it. However, as Suarez plays trying to nick the ball constantly, that all it was, he tried to get the ball quickly, but didn't and caught him a little.
thought it was a bit nasty but pretty much in context considering the number of times he or sterling were taken out after the ball had gone. No doubt the media will make a whole load of this after falling for the tactic of martinez making a big fuss of a missed yellow card after getting beat 3-0. PS cant blame martinez for trying to divert attention but the media should be wise to this.
There's 2 things here. Firstly Martinez is being a hypocrite. If the decision should be left to the referee AND if "he's not one to look back" then why mention it as the major element of a post-match interview. Secondly, we have yet one more in a series of negative comments regarding both Liverpool and Suarez by that idiot Ben Smith. He is seriously getting near the point where his very employment by the BBC should be challenged due to unprofessional bias.
well, I haven't seen it admittedly but would imagine cos its better than talking about getting totally outplayed second half with no plan B.
Stereotyping him up as the dirty Uruguayan, diving stamping abusive. Xenophobic racist English media, no surprise there.
It's becoming a rather dull stereotype. Opposing manager ignored the obvious failings of his own team or worse tries to camouflage them by having a pop at Suarez. Well, he generally gives his response in goals against them so I say: Carry on whining like little biatches
Martinez's comments laughable but when you watch MOTD later they will focus on that foul and call it the other side of Suarez The prem has their villains and quality players IN SUAREZ WE HAVE BOTH
One of headlines on BBC football page is " martinez accuses suarez of stamp"!!!! FFS so what, it was a yellow card, big ****ing deal
He [Ben Smith] mentions the accusations of every other manager in history that has ever criticised Suarez. Yet he ignores the only genuine stamp to have happened this year, which was Huth's assault on Suarez that went unpunished.
This is the problem though. While at times they appeared stuffy the BBC in its journalism always attempted to reach a certain level of excellence & impartiality (if always a little left leaning) This current crop seem to worry about using trendy twitter accounts & who they follow & who follows them than actually doing the dirty often boring work of journalism. They now insist & enjoy being PART of the story rather than merely reporting it. When they write something its always with a mind first on what response it will get THEM rather than having a professional satisfaction in getting the actual story out there. Quite frankly the ONLY thing the BBC does well enough to justify tax payers money now is their natural history programmes. Anyone thinking the culture of stroking ego's that led to the Saville situation is over look at Ross or Moyles et al to see how even recently its more about getting "stars" than producing quality for us. If it wasn't for the fact the Murdoch empire are such bastards (because let's be honest they do a lot if what the BBC use to do better) I'd start asking for the death of the BBC.
Dirtyfrank; spot on, journalstic standards have dropped in general but the decline seems particularly sharp at the beeb.
The decline of journalistic standards at the BBC is a long and sad story and goes far beyond sport and football reporting. One of the saddest elements of this decline is the replacement of fact with opinion and the condoning of individual prejudice. Until the BBC are prepared to actually take true editorial action the present morass will continue to grow. What idiots at the Beeb think of Suarez or Liverpool concerns me very little but I do object to paying for a system of news journalism that does not deliver the highest standards.
Here is the reason behind the Beeb's standards falling. please log in to view this image http://www.mediacityblog.com/article/breakfast_in_salford_46_say_yes_please
