He also suggests that they "controlled the game completely" in the second-half so he's clearly losing his marbles Anyone else find that a win tastes even sweeter when the opposition come out whinging and looking for excuses after the event? I certainly do, love it!
Pure deflection on his part. From the replays of the Johnson "tackle" it looked accidental to me. Before the match I think we were top of the fair play league so it is not as if we have form for this sort of thing.
I posted the thread because I can't see Chris Hughton issuing such an order, but also because I am astonished that Martinez could even think it!
Sorry guys, but you know my Fav player is Bradley, but it really was a bad tackle. It happened right in front of me and could have been a broken ankle. No way do I think it was intentional, but it deserved a yellow.
It was more a clumsy tackle than a bad tackle and it got the yellow it deserved. McCarthy only stayed down after the little bit of handbags that went on after the tackle.
It looked bad from where I was sitting (Jarrold) but not intentional more bad timing. McCathy pulled up a bit later when he hit the ball hard and clearly winced in pain so it must have hurt !! It deserved a yellow for sure but Bradders was more clumsy rather than out to get him. Martinez's comments that they "controlled the second half" are delusional - they had a good spell immediately after half time when the two subs made their mark (don't know why they don't play Maloney from the start - he looked good to me and was certainly their best player) but once we had regained the lead they rarely threatened apart from that Kone chance that Bassong's brilliant interception thwarted right at the end.
martinez's comments after the match were delusional to say the least edit. oops - oldcanariesfan beat me to it!
Expected such comments they are in the mire yet again and he needs to deflect the obvious criticism coming his way
I find it pathetic that Martinez says that Norwich targeted McCarthy and that Johnson intentionally stamped on his ankle. It was unfortunate and deserved a yellow card, but both players were going for the ball.
I was sitting in the Jarrold Yarco, I haven't seen replays, but to me it looked more clumsy. There was obviously some damage done in the challenge, but he carried on playing and didn't seem to suffer any adverse effects until he decided to start firing in shots from 30 plus yards. Even then he carried on and finished the half. As has already been said, Martinez's comments smack of a manager who seems to be running out of time and ideas with a squad who aren't good enough for this level. Over previous seasons they've picked up some decent players under the radar, (N'Zogbia, Moses, Baines, Valencia, Diame, Rodellega to name a few) who have kept them in the league. This season they have no-one like that and it's starting to show
