Luton 75 (L) Boro 61 (L) Stoke 52 (D) QPR 46 (W) Sheffield Utd 50 (L) Hull 60 (W) WBA 56 (W) Watford 51 (W) Sunderland 50 (W) So since we stopped achieving in excess of 60% possession, we have played 7 matches and taken 16 out of 21 points. The only defeat was against Championship leaders Sheff United. Since Benda was selected, 5 wins out of 6 matches. Thoughts anyone?
The only thing that strikes me is maybe the plan was to get everyone comfortable in possession as the priority. Now, whether the plan was then to start being more offensive and direct after the players were more "technically" proficient, is possibly wishful thinking on my part! It could be that RM had to change his plans because they weren't working. If so, the comfortable in possession would still be a bonus however. Either way, he has evolved his approach, so kudos for that.
" Rome wasn't built in a day ". Swansea City's hierarchy, having carried out extensive foundation work, now have the bricklayers in place, working on the superstructure. Back in the day, a demented Nero " sacked " Rome. Let's hope there is no need for further sackings. Or demands for same.
Benda has made a difference. Retaining him is a bonus. All these stats are misleading/meaningless. Martin has been trying his best to create a successful team, and there are now glimpses of what he is hoping to achieve. Sadly, the " sack him " brigade, created a toxic environment. Perhaps they can now temper their hostility, and remember their place in the world. None of them have the knowledge, or credentials, to manage a football Club.
