I'm presuming he was as he didn't make the bench.

Im just a little worried that Kenny might have said Johnson was startin, and Martin may have got the hump, which is why he didnt make the bench

I really hope that didnt happen, hope hes got a minor niggle and he will play 2moro.Very good young player

Probably not Kellys style but I heard he was injured before the match so think it was a case of that rather than anything else <ok> Johnson still makes me bloody nervous every time he plays.

I ve also read that Kellys started to do Yoga to try and get rid of the constant little niggles he seems to get.I think he was injured on Saturday

I dont mind Johnson, I think he offers more going forward than Kelly, and hes nowhere near as bad defensively as people make out.I still think he our number 1 RB

I'm not a Johnson fan and would prefer Kelly at RB but he's a big lad and I think his injury problems may be due to him bombing down the wing.

He's not BAD defensively but I'm still not convinced he's good enough for what we should expect at Anfield. I don't dislike him as a player and I can rarely fault his commitment to the team but for me Kelly's more solid defensively and that should be the first priority when considering who to play in a defensive position. All in all though if we can keep the two of them fit I'm happy to have them as our right backs with Flanny as 3rd choice (but please please please Kenny don't ever play Skrtel there ever ever ever again <laugh>)

for me in all honesty a FIT glen johnson can be brillinat and far far better than kelly at the specialist role.

BUT we have not seen a fit glen jonhson, for 2-3 seasons have we? look at how few games he's played for us!

So for me if a fit glen johnson turns up the only really issue i have is carrgher better be dropped for a faster CB.

See now I'd have Kelly and Carra over Johnson and Skrtel <laugh> this armchair management lark is never easy though eh

Let's be fair, we can't judge Johnson on his performance against Stoke as he cannot be match fit yet. I would like to see Kelly and Johnson becoming inter-changable this season with Kelly having the odd try-out at CB

Johnson played well, especially first half he really caused problems in attack.

I have palpitations every time Johnston plays. I would be delighted to have Kelly as first choice every match. Johnston can keep his England place, since I don't give a rats ass about the national team. I prefer to keep Kelly fit and safe.

Johnson's already lost that England place, Richards has got to have that spot nailed on.

Time to move on, Kelly over Johnson all day long

"It's great to have him back," said Dalglish. "It's a wee bit unfortunate on Martin Kelly that Glen went in and played, but it just shows you the quality of people we have in the squad and that's what we want.

"Glen certainly did well and it might have been a wee bit of a risk to put him back in as early as that, but he had around 65 minutes at Ibrox (against Rangers) and that helped him.

"We're delighted to see him back and also have a wee bit of heavy heart for Kells as well."

That sounds like Kelly wasn't injured and was dropped and replaced by Glen. If I am right, it seems a bit harsh on Martin as I feel he's been excellent this season.

Sorry , but I just dont agree. I dont EVER remember Johnson being given a really tough game by any winger..He make the odd mistake, but generally defensively I think Johnson has been pretty good at least for Liverpool, he has. This thing that he is weak defensively is a myth, it aint true.Sayin that at the mo , he may struggle to get back in Englands 1st 11, as Richards is on fire at the mo, but saying that Capello doesnt seem to rate Richards

I think that, if playing three across the back and wing backs, Johnson and Enrique are nailed on in those spots - they offer pace, penetration and delivery from the wide areas, and they have licence to bomb on and deliver the crosses which Carroll will feed off. Given the likelihood of weak wing play from Stoke tonight, I can see this formation working well against their 4-4-2.

Kelly's day will come, and it will come with the eventual replacement of Jamie Carragher.
