Does anyone know why Martin Kelly isn't getting any game time? I thought he'd be a shoe in when Johnson had to come off and that v Chelsea, he'd play with Johnson on the left. I know he's had no luck with injury but thought he's been fit a while now.

say it was because playing RB there is a risk of his hammy going again, not sure to be honest.

think if he is not going to play CB then get rid, he is a good player but doesn't suit RB as he is too injury prone and they are expected to cover the wings for width.

why isnt Kelly,Coates etc playing, few i don't understand what is going on or why we still have them.

guess we will see where Kelly stands now as i would have thought he would be obvious choice for next game, personally like to see McLaughlin given a chance, so what next for kelly if he doesnt play?

I think you might be right about Kelly. I've suspected for a while that his injuries have worsened because of the demands of a modern full back. If he can't fight his way into a CB slot (which will be tough for him) I fear he's not going to get enough game time to develop him. Loan deal possibly just until the end of the season??

Coates is out for the season but I suspect when fit he'll be off anyway. Just didn't do enough when given his chances and given the extra competition now he surely won't get back in. The strange one for me is that Illori hasn't had a look in. I'd have thought with his pace he might get a chance at full back but BR obviously doesn't think he's ready.

Coates isn't playing because a toddler would do better at the back. Plus he's crock.

Read a comment from Rodgers that the plan for Illori was for him to come in, familiarise himself and then go on loan in January, so we'll have to see.

Would definitely like to see McLaughlin given a chance... despite his strange attitude to inclusion in the NI squad. Still deserves a chance, always stands out when I watch the reserves.

  7. Coates is injured, will be for the whole season. Ruptured his ligaments.

Same sentiments as above. He isn't suited to right back with his injury problems and he'll have a real hard time fighting for a centre back place for the foreseeable future if even Kolo can't get a start.

Loan him out for the next season and a half and see what he can do though, he certainly has potential but he needs game time.

I also agree with blooding McLaughlin in on the right (maybe against Oldham?). He's a real quality youngster coming through who looks the real deal.

I didn't see that about Illori so cheers MY <ok>

Agree about McLaughlin he has looked good when I've seen him (which admittedly hasn't been a great deal this year).

Think the only issue with Ryan McLaughlin is where he'll end up playing - he's been used at right back, right wing and left wing if I'm not mistaken.

if the rumour that we are not putting kelly in at RB as there's a worry on his hamstring then i'm afraid he's done and dusted. if he cannot come on there for 20mins even then what's the point? he's got to be behind 4 others for cb min so we should let him go make a career elsewhere. his age is not that young... its 6 months since he retruned to "fitness" so if he can't get up to speed for a 30min spell then... you know...

he's 23... and will be 24 by end of season (april)

thats the thing he is NOT a young player any more he is a senior player in every aspect. one who's one of our own and suffered a bad knee injury yes but the club must have a player who can play. So far i don't understand why he's not geting on nor being considered when johnson is so bloody awful and needs a month off.

  14. He is a Liverpool lad and he is a decent player. IMO, this is the type we should be keeping to make up the squad numbers. I expect at least one of Agger or Skrtel to leave in the summer, maybe both.
