You beat me to it! Confirmed: http://www.fulhamfc.com/Club/News/NewsArticles/2011/June/ManagerConfirmed.aspx Although apparently it's Maarten Jol! I'm happy with that.
Yes happy although slightly bitter from last year's embarashment but at least shows that the club is looking forward and upwards.
Given the options available (e.g. O'Neill, McClaren etc.), I think Jol is a very good appointment for us. Time will tell of course, but Jol seems a better personality fit for us than Hughes did, and certainly better than O'Neill would have been.
Great news! I was pulling slightly for O'Neil to get the job, but this is far from a disappointment. With all his experience managing in Europe, I think he'll be a great conduit for new talent for our squad. It'd be nice to get a few of those uber-technical Dutch players, too.
Great news, in my opinion was the best option available, there was always a chance MON was going to go the same way as Hughes did. Maybe he can bring some of his old Spuds mates along with him?
Yes, I'm happy. Not sure I'll ever get used to spelling it "Maarten" though! He has already said some good things about looking forward to joining the Fulham family and it being a good traditional club with a great fan base. These things are easy to say but they're more than MH ever did and I like the fact that he's keen to get off on the right foot with us!
Great man, very popular at Spurs and he will definately get a great reception when he returns to WHL next season. Hope Hughton becomes his no2 again. Wouldn't be surprised to see Jenas and Keane end up at Fulham now.
Hughton as his number two would certainly be a coup, but would he go back to being a number two after the success he had at Newcastle?
A good appointment for us. Lets hope it works out this time. Would think Hughton might want to keep going as a manager, so maybe Ray Lewington in as coach. Jenas!!! hope not, and Keane no thanks, trying to offload your rejects? Didn't Jol bring in Lennon, Bale and Berbatov thats more like it
Jenas might be an option (he's a Fulham type signing, a talented player who has been completely sidelined at a "top" club), but I hope we don't go for Keane. Maybe Jol can use that German & Dutch experience to unearth some decent young players from abroad? Hopefully we will start to see the integration of our academy players over the next few years, but some youth via transfer would be good too.
I had a call from 5Live at 8.55 this morning asking if I would go live on air to explain how I felt about the appointmet! I told them I was happy as he did well at Spurs but (as a lot of you have mentioned on here), I am curious to know what happened with him signing last time round after Roy left. COYW
