In hindsight the way he started can be seen as a mistake but

    - last time we went away to a team doing well and started with the winning formula we were beaten 3-0, and had no 'card up our sleeve' from the bench to change in our favour - ok it could have been Carson but tactically wise hes not a lot different so couldn't have changed the game. Either way, Carson appears to have some sort of attidute problem, Jewell was rightly singing his praises before the summer.

-Leadbitter's chance to prove himself and earn a new contract, i remember reading from a couple of people he didnt play too badly on Tuesday.

-Keep the whole squad on there toes - two strands to this, the reserves seeing that just because we're winning/doing well they cant live a happy life in training and on the bench 2. 1st team shouldnt just assume there place is set in stone. Ok Martin has been by far our best player but see my 1st point. Just in general it is a squad game, think back to our first good run of results, team wasnt changed and it fell apart.

From this, yes we are looking at options for next season, not defending the logic but Priskin was given a 'last chance' before being released. but along with this we're trying to do it in a way that allows us to keep the good run going, not saying that Stevenson, Hyam and company arnt good enough but leadbitter was the bench player.

As far as dropping Hyam goes i dont agree and dont see why, but he is still inexperienced, and had been picking up a lot of cards and there is only so much space on the bench and by the looks of it its a choice between Stevenson and Hyam for now.

All that said, i would be worried if we had the same starting line up next week

Although Leadboots may have played ok the last couple of games, is he worth keeping? He scored in open play for the first time in how many months? While he may be a good back up there are others I would rather see in the team first. I mean, what does he have that some of our other choices don't. I think it's more the case that our other options have something he doesn't.
