I was a bairn when he was in his pomp at Spurs but always thought he looked a class act.

Seeing his goal return confirms his pedigree. Cracking fella as well apparently.

RIP Martin.

RIP Martin Chivers. Before my time by most accounts top bloke and an underrated player who was deemed as "lazy" and "lucky" by some fans (getting nicknamed "Chivers jam" by some) who undeservedly got ignored by England in the aftermath of failing to qualify for the 1974 world cup. His stats are really impressive and putting him 4th in Spurs all time goal scorers list (Harry Kane, Jimmy Greaves and Bobby Smith ahead of him) and 13 goals in 24 matches for English nothing to be sneezed at. He was probably one of those players not fully appreciated at the time but would be loved today.

RIP Martin.
