The Daily Mail are running a story that Sheffield United want Martin Allen as their new manager and he is 2/1 favourite on Sky bet, Stuart MacCall 2nd favourite on 6/1...Yes, I know it is just a story and Martin Allen has been very positive in the press about his plans for Gillingham, but should we be just slightly concerned he could jump ship?

I think we should be more than a little worried. Doesn't MA write a column for the Daily Mail?

If the great Martin Allen walks away we will feel disapointed.

I am sure he is the man to take us back to the Championship.
I am sure he is a manager who could lead a Premiership team one day.

But, this is football, a wage slip and a team with ambitions of the top end of the Championship are desirable to a manager. I hope he stays, but should he go he will leave in my mind a legend to the club for what he did. He made us believe again.

    Long Live the Mad Dog.

Can I also say should he go my favourite for last summer Stephan Constantine is out of work again, took over a team in Cyprus in december on an 8 month losing spell, won 3 in a row then left because they didnt pay his wages!

Yes, I did get some brief response. He obviously was interested but my memory is so bad, I cannot remember much more than that.

Wrong, he himself wrote in the Mail in January this year and admitted he DID have an interview, he likely was not allowed to divulge it before.

I also thought that was the case throwoff but I did not say it to gfc1234 because as I posted my memory is bad. What made me think that is because I can remember something about a guy on twitter, who knows him and claiming a load of stuff on there, then that media comment came out which contradicted the so called person in the know!

Some guy who is a friend of the all knowing dear leader over on 365 who claims to be personal friends with almost everyone in football said he didn't have an interview on twitter, with no source other than his word.

Strangely this was accepted on 365 who usually insist on a published source for anything posted.

I said at the time it was BS on there and got banned shortly afterwards!

My memory serves me better than I thought <laugh> Strangely enough I also thought that. I knew it was rubbish because as I said I had an email, so I knew I could dismiss the claims. Because a source comes from us, people believe what they want to believe. I can honestly say though I don't make stuff up and I don't lie. I might get things wrong sometimes but at least I openly always put my hands up.

    We all make mistakes BRB!

Constantine was firmly in the frame, there were even some slightly less trustworthy sources (but still ones who are not completely dismissable) that claimed an informal meet took place with Hope Powell as well, more of a sizing each other up chance than interview (she was entirely commited to the Olympic team of course and had no interest in leaving that job)

I still personally believe us getting her in would be a grand coup for the club, it is the future whether people like it or not.

And remember, never question the dear leader, he is always right, and UFC is a real sport, honest.

Martin Allen has confirmed he will be at Priestfield next season and that he likes working with Mr Scally and feels we can improve.
