An interesting aspect in there that he was sacked by telephone at Barnet - am i reading that right?

alwaysright will remember where we were at that weekend, Shrewsbury mate on the Saturday. So I guess the Barnet game on the Sunday was versus Wrexham - 13th October. So what time would that make it that MadDog was sacked?

How does this all tie in with previous discussion on PT's appointment when i'm sure we felt subsequent timings meant MA must have known face to face at the Shrewsbury game. Going to have to go back and look when I get time. Anyone who has kept up with this story previously will know where i am coming from.

Please someone correct me if i'm wrong in any of this.

brb The Wrexham game was on Sunday 13 October - on Sky.
It was announced by GFC on that Sunday that Allen had been sacked. From information I gleaned before the game at Shrewsbury on the day before, I ascertained that Mr.Scally was going to be at the Shrewsbury match and flying back to Dubai straight after the game.

If Allen was informed of his dismissal by telephone, Scally should be a little ashamed of himself for not having the professionalism and courtesy to have told Allen to his face after the match.

Let's look at the positivity for GFC

Ebenezer Scally spent the princely sum of one text message to request that Allen phone HIM for the pleasure of receiving his P45.

Nice touch that Mr.Scally - ever thought about doing a stint as Father Christmas in the Gills grotto - mind you, you wouldn't know what to give out as presents after the free tickets had run out.
Make sure you've got enough snow shovels to go around.

I remember us discussing it at the time. If you remember while waiting to get off the coach outside Shrewsbury's ground on the 12th Oct, we thought we saw PS talking to a fan, we discussed him as we got off the coach why he would be there. It seemed a strange game in the limited visits terms of things to go there to us (was he there or was it a case of mistaken identity by us!). We talked about the five year plan and maybe he was taking a further look at the Shrews ground re our own future planning. I hasten to add to visitors looking in, this was a genuine discussion that took place between two travelling football supporters and not something made up. We had no idea of Martin Allen's pending departure.

Then to our shock and amazement we found out the following day the 13th that MA had been sacked. Our discussions then followed it must have been face to face at the Shrews game. Although i had seen comments via twitter it was probably done by phone. I dismissed this because I could not believe the Chairman would do it by phone, although we was of the assumption he had flown back that night as alwaysright states. In fact i would have bet money MadDog was sacked at the Shrewsbury game, so this saddens me now to find it was done over the telephone according to that Malice article in MA's said words.

That Sunday night the independent published an article re Peter Taylor...http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/...ng-of-martin-allen-at-gillingham-8877756.html - that article must have undergone some serious editing (mentions Monday) and is mis-leading (one would assume) because it completely contradicts this interview published the next day Monday 14th...http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/24518273 see 4 mins 20 secs...unless anyone else had any involvement in approaching PT, absolutely unknown to me.

I would need someone to tell me the editing history on both the above links to get true timings and accuracy of stories. Although I've been back and checked my twitter timeline, I retweeted that Radio Kent interview on Monday 14th October soon after it was tweeted.

Obviously things move extremely quickly in football.

brb Allen clearly affirms that the dismissal notice was via a phone call following a text from Mr.Scally. ( probably historically recorded in Allen's mobile phone usage )
IF this was incorrect - and the sacking actually took place face-to-face the previous day at Shrewsbury ---(definitely Scally - no mstaken identity)--- then Allen is treading on thin ice and liable to litigation for defamation by Scally............. Who would you believe ?

Then, if I remember rightly, on Monday 14th Mr.Scally denied in a Radio Kent interview having any contact with/from Taylor - who was installed as manager a couple of hours later ( despite the need for Mr.Scally to sift through over 40 applicants for the job )

.................. I ask again ..............Who do you believe ?

I'm not doubting MA's words for one moment as i'm sure you realise. Although i say with a wry smile. there is a get out clause of his comments by saying he did not know what time he got the text! Oh please, do me a favour, most youngsters would know how to work a phone better than me but even i know how to look at the time I received a text...what's he got a wind up one...lol

You have confirmed what I thought it was PS at the game...just had to check with my old failing eyes...so let me run this one past you then mate...as mentioned by the reporter in that BBC interview about The Chairman's message of supporters getting behind the team, I've then again this week seen match day notes sent to me, keyboard warriors and people coming saying things face to face...now i'm sure you know where this one is going...sacked by telephone...I wouldn't be happy if my boss did that to me and not face to face. Just an opinion.

Maybe he did but that's not how that Malice article is portraying it.

I doubt if Mr.Scally can recognise the irony of the situation - moaning about keyboard warriors - yet uses a keyboard to do his dirty work. I think there's a better word for it - hypocrisy.

I have to resort to keyboard warrior tactics - because the Club continue to fail to reply to private correspondence ( as you have experienced ). Whilst I accept that I can be vociferous, when needed, I do have the best interests of the Club and its' fans at heart - and will declare my viewpoint - because I care - especially when if I feel that anyone connected to OUR club is treating the fans like idiots.

I find it a bit ironic,if true, that according to the Mirror and The Scum ,who are saying that Martin was at the Pompey game on Saturday, which was before Whittingham got sacked.
