And Marshall has been given the green light to remain on loan at Sheffield Wednesday until the end of the season. The 20-year-old former Crewe Academy graduate, who was out of contract next summer, has now been handed the chance to prove himself long-term to manager Tony Pulis. "He's not ready for us at the moment," admitted Pulis, "but given time, he can make the right sort of progress. "He's impressed us in his time at Stoke. Now it's up to him to knuckle down and continue improving in the years to come." Marshall, who joined Stoke after following former Crewe boss Steve Holland to the Britannia in 2009, also had earlier loan spells at Northampton, Cheltenham and Carlisle before signing on loan for Wednesday boss Gary Megson in August. He has since played in 19 league matches and scored four goals to help Wednesday up to second in League One.
