Well, which is best a Mars Bar ( or just " Mars" ) - with nougat, caramel and a fairly thick chocolate coating - or a Snickers Bar ( or just " Snickers ) which also features nougat and caramel but with peanuts added ; it has also been suggested in some circles that the chocolate on a Mars Bar is slightly thicker than that on a Snickers.

And how many posts will it take to make this discussion on the relative merits of two fairly similar chocolate bars produced by the same company to be linked to Ireland ?

I only eat the ice cream versions these days and prefer the Snickers as the peanuts make it a bit more interesting. I find the Mars one a bit bland.

One day they may be able to accept their differences and live together in harmony. But actually they're both a bit ****, so probably not.

Snickers for me. The marriage of salty nuts and sweet caramel is sublime as anyone who has eaten Haagen Das pralines & caramel ice cream can vouch for.

As for turning into an Irish barney - it's bounty eventually as too many thrive on the topic and they play to the gallery like piss-poor minstrels.

I refuse to call it "snickers".

Absolute disgrace that they changed the name.

    Will always be "marathon".

There's a few other name changes I don't accept as well:

    Anglo-Egyptian Sudan (Sudan)
    Basutoland (Lesotho)
    Bechuanaland (Botswana)
    British East Africa (Kenya)
    British Somaliland (northern Somalia)
    British Togoland (eastern Ghana)
    Gold Coast (Ghana)
    Northern Rhodesia (Zambia)
    Nyasaland (Malawi)
    South-West Africa (Namibia)
    Southern Rhodesia (Zimbabwe)
    Tanganyika (mainland Tanzania)
    Zanzibar (insular Tanzania)

    and that's just Africa.

    Yacontcha!!!
