Altho weve signed an experienced player at this level in Henderson and possibly waiting for that 1mill striker !! every one bangs on about, what are your thoughts on the M&M attack which could be formed this season. Both have to come out of the shadow of morison and up against better defences.Marquis had a excellent end of the season run which culminated in a flurry of goals which got us just outside the playoffs but know further. however we dont know how he will cope over a full season with the responsibility of being one of our main strikers which could be a tall order for him, but as the old saying goes you dont know if you dont play him!! ... thoughts?, Mcquoid for me ,it's a big season for him this term as he was thought of highly by Kenny and various people at Bournemouth . he did have a fair few injuries last season but im hoping he ups his goal scoring ratio this season and scores a few crackers like he did with that televised 20 yarder against preston. i personally dont think kenny will go with them as a pair not unless we get injuries, with kenny prefering Hendo and either Marquis or Mcquoid or our secret 1mill striker !! ( hopefully).
Due to where i sit at The Den i have spoken to both players during last season. They are both good lads eager for a run in the team.I think they would do well together once they have established a re pour and awareness of one an other's positions on the pitch. I was chatting to a guy who used to play at school level with Marquis, said he was 100% goal scorer and knows he will score plenty for us. Sometimes you have to take a chance and i think M&M would relish the opportunity.
I highly rate Marquis and think he is a natural goal poacher, only 19 but done the bizz when called upon. i would love to see him given a good run in the team, But i always fear that if a player plays half a dozen games and doesnt score they tend to get left out in the cold, Although KJ. stuck it out with Morison who came good eventually. Give the lad a run out im convinced he will do a job. he has been given the No.9 shirt go Johnny go,,,,,
The thing is will kenny let them form a partnership from the off ,as like you say they need time to gel,but if they are constantly playing with henderson or another striker that understanding might not be there. You never know they might turn out to be a surprise like hooper and hayes were for unfashionable club scunny.
I hope they get a decent run and if it doesnt pay off early doors, the fans dont give em to much ****!!!! They could save the club potentially from buying the "mystery" million pound striker
He who dares...M&M need to be given a chance to play together as a partnership, from the start. They got a taste at the end of last season. Lets see how well they get on. KJ can always swap around if its not working, They have the desire,passion and enthusiasm. The experience will only come with games ! I want to see them play. Batt might only be sub anyway,depending on his progress. We have Henderson as backup Will be interesting to see the line up for tonight's fixture, and how Kenny changes things around during the game.
Yeh - they have the advantage of not being well known by Championship defences and have the benefit of a full summer preparation together. If Henry and Bouazza give great support it could be a good partnership. You can bet that KJ won't give up on either till he's given it a big push. Marquis is home grown - always a plus - so the coaching should be tailored to his needs. But it's always the pairing that is critical ....have they got the understanding of each other? Time will tell....
