The club have announced the opening of the Markus Liebherr suite. If the logo is anything to go by, it looks like it will be a very smart/high class venue. Could anyone tell me what this suite used to be? Is it just old office space converted, a name change to an old suite or has the Le Tissier suite been split? I'm all for a more lasting tribute to Markus, but know that relations between the club and some of the old living legends has seen the odd public spat. I hope this is not another reason for muck to be thrown. The next point (which maybe in poor taste) I appreciate Cortese was great friends with Markus, but these lasting tributes can only help encourage the Liebherr family to remain behind Southampton financially throughout the coming years. I don't mean to sound cynical on that, but I blame society for my thoughts
I think it's very fitting that there is something at SMS to commemorate Markus, a much loved man. I think it reflects the continuing interest of the Leihberrs, rather than any cynicism on NC's part. Also glad that Tiss still has his suite..suggests all is not lost in our hope for some kind of reconciliation. I'm hoping to treat myself to something in one of the hospitality suites this season, why not this one.
anyone else notice the use of the badge icon that was used for the testimonial cup announcement? i remember rumours of a new crest a while ago..... are they re-branding perhaps?
I presume the crest is that of the Leihberrs. No owner has bought a club and changed the crest that I know of...correct me if you know different. Renaming stadiums is the worst they do. P.s. do like the Leihberrs crest..very classy.
Sky sports news have been using a slightly modified Saints crest on their graphics. Might be their interpretation, or one the club has sent them. The scarf is slightly different and it's more "slick"
I did notice that, and very astute of you Saintbirdseye to link it to a potential re-branding. I think we are going to see this graphics theme creep into more and more of Saints signage and graphics. Eventually I can see it coming to the badge, probably not this season maybe not next but eventually once we have all got used to seeing it plastered everywhere.
Don't especially want to change our badge, but the Leihberr logo is classy. You can see how subliminal advertising works. It would also support the view that they are here for the longterm. A standing bear with a halo..now there's a thought.
The QPR Owners changed the crest Fran & Arsenal changed their crest relatively recently(though don't think that was down to ownership). A few subtle changes, but would be surprised to see a complete overhaul. I'm now thinking of getting a logo for the entrance to my lounge
