Was appointed as our Chief Executive in Summer 2010, a few months after leaving a similar post at Stockport County, where to say he was disliked by the supporters is something of an understatement. It must have been Russell Bartlett who made the appointment (Duffen had long since departed and the Allams had yet to complete their take over), but presumably Adam Pearson was involved also? It has been suggested on several forums that the Allams are working closely with Maguire in preference to Adam Pearson, who is becoming an increasingly peripheral figure at City, against his wishes. Can anyone shed any light on what the political situation might currently be in the boardroom at our club?
Mayb the allams sent happy about Pearson taking on the rugby club, after all surley he can't run both, therefore we have a conflict of interests, tbh if Pearson went it wouldn't be the end of the world.
It would awful if AP left, he's a hugely important person in the club who has always had it's best interests at heart as opposed to his own wallet's (ahem Duffen). The understanding when he bought FC was that he knew it was a steady ship financially so he was happy to have the same people run it and make him money. I know these things change but it would be disappointing if this was given as a reason for any departure.
Bollocks. The only reason he came back is because he was hoping to invest on the cheap when Bartlett was in trouble.
Invest? He only takes a wage, the work he put in with Bartlett then the Allams saved the club from going bust and he didn't have to do it as there was no guarantee he'd get anything for it. He has a genuine affection for the club as you'd expect from someone who's taken it from where it was to where it is now (Please don't bring up Duffen and the prem becaue i'll only agree that we wouldn't have got there without him and i don't want to do that - plus you probably don't want anyone agreeing with you anyway)
it could well be the end of the world if Mark Macquire was left running it. something about his presence, as well as his record, worries me
He does only take a wage, but he did want to invest. AP took us as far as he could the first time he was here, he's proved here and at Derby that he's not cut out for anything higher than the bottom half of The Championship.
If the only reason he came here was to invest then he wouldn't have accepted only taking a wage. Fair enough if he wanted to but he still stuck around when he knew that wasn't on the table. Derby was a ****ing shambles of someone else's making and again he tried to help a club out of a **** situation when he didn't have to with no guarantee of any return for himself. I actually agree he took us as far as he could which is why he sold us (again he had the best interests of Hull City at heart), it's not his fault Bartlett brought in Duffen who nearly ran us out of business. As for now he's running the club with an owner that actually takes an interest in the day to day running of the club (for the first time in forever) so actually a lot of the decisions to cut money here or there that you find so annoying might not be made by him. I doubt he chose to get rid of his own PA! I know i'm not going to change your mind but if you're going to criticise AP please use points that are both accurate and not made up
He came at a time when we new the current owner, RB, wanted out and hoped he could get in on the action with any potential new owner. Dont tell me you've never heard the radio interview where he openly stated he would be interested in investing again.
Of course he would be interested in investing again, does that mean he's only here for himself? Maybe My point is evidently he's not only here for himself because when he knew that he wasn't going to be able to invest (which would have been quite quickly if that was all he was after) he wouldn't have stayed and put in the nearly 2 years worth of work he's done if he didn't care about the club. When TWF said he only came back to invest he basically says Pearson was after a quick buck get in get out, I'm saying that that's bollocks
I don't agree on most things TWF says, but this one I thought at the time was the main reason APO came back. However now the sitaution has changed and I am sure he will make the best decision for himself.
Of course he's only here to make money for himself. He's a Huddersfield Town fan, not a Hull City fan. Now he's bought Hull I'd guess he'll **** off sooner rather than later. Please drop this romantic bollocks about him "caring for the club", he's a businessman, and a good one. He's just not a very good football man.
I can't help but feel Sir Adam is vital to the future of HCAFC.. Whilst his track record with managers is hit and miss, the man knows how to run a football club financially and takes the fans considerations seriously.. we are very, very lucky to have him.. It's one of my biggest fear's that he'l soon leave and a combination of Allams/Maguire.. with there lack of footballing knowledge will seriously Duffen up this club once again.
I know Percy's back on his blinkered anti-AP crusade, but if you follow that argument there wouldn't be any posts on here.
I've met AP a number of times since 2002 and sat near him in the Directors Box last Boxing Day at Bramall Lane (added time winner and all that) Take it from me the guy is very very passionate about the Club. Yes of course he's a business man too - nowt wrong with that.
