The first of Mark Hughes' columns in the Mail... http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...-Munich-10-years-ahead-Manchester-United.html
interesting stuff, especially about buying before he sells. it seems there won't be a huge clear out like we thought.
I am sure the likes of Agyemang, Cook, and Vine will disappear quite quickly. They are not in the 25 and never will be.
There will be 12-15 are out of contract so they will go on july 1st no matter what. I assume the selling will be of Kenny and any fringe players still on a contract.
great read and it reinforces that our club is going places. Forget all the rubbish in the press who we are after because i see names coming in that we would never expect. Our new DOF has good contacts and is highly repected so expect some good names. I am so pleased that we are getting rid of the 'dead wood' which drain our club of money. Onwards and upwards!
The Important bit: The season is over, but the work doesnât stop. Iâm away for a few days with my QPR staff and we are building for next season. It will be the first pre-season we have had with a club for four years and we canât wait for it to start. Weâve had to bide our time since coming in here; now we are trying to plan and to make our club stronger. When I said no team of mine will be in this position again... I meant it. Since weâve been in the building it has been about creating the standards and behaviour we expect. Now we are ready for the next level. In the past, I have signed Vincent Kompany (Man City), Christopher Samba (Blackburn) and Moussa Dembele (Fulham). They all increased in transfer value playing in those teams. I am seeking similar quality for QPR. I am excited about what we can achieve here. The players I want to sign need to know we have plans to be a top club. I spent my career playing for big clubs and I want success. I am hungry and ambitious. We are waiting to hear on Joey Bartonâs punishment. He is facing a long ban and we have to take stock of the situation. We are awaiting the verdict of the FA and the disciplinary process will take its course. As a manager there are 10 other players you have to think about, then 10 who played on against Manchester City. We stayed up. Itâs a relief. And now we start again. This is not all about Joey Barton. There will be buys and sales. When we walked through the door, there were a lot of players who hadnât figured before and who havenât made an impression on me and my staff. Theyâll move on, they want to play. I want to strengthen, but I believe in buying players before you sell. I donât want to weaken us before we get stronger. Taking this job was a risk. For me - and for my employers; weâve all taken a risk. But let me say this - it is a good club with good people. I like the atmosphere, from the owners and the chief executive through to the staff. There is a buzz, a determination and now we want to move forward. Good players will want to be part of what we are trying to create - thatâs our story to tell. And our story will get better from here.
Agree it seems to be happening so fast. I am used to the old QPR way (mostly let downs) but these guys mean business. If Flabio had said all this i would take with a pinch of salt but look who they have brought in: P Beard (look what he has done), MH (good manager and back room staff), New DOF (from ManC comes highly recommended), the players we have brought in, New training ground and a chairman with great PR. And of course Prem football. Add all that together and you get a club on the up.
Its shocking isnt it, its like karma for the last 15 years of suffering. Who have thought this would happen 2 years ago? I like everything that TF has done so far. Hes hands on with the business side but totally hands off on the football side.
It is all looking really good! Is it for real or is MH off to Villa or Pool, I think and hope the former but I'm not convinced that if a big Club comes calling with a mega offer he won't be off.
Ossie, delighted to see you softening towards MH. I think he knows he's on to a good thing with us, and is going nowhere for a bit. But if he did jump ship, after some initial embarrassment with Foolham plastics, we would quickly get into 'good riddance' mode. Ultimately you are right. He wants to win things, and believes he is a 'big club' manager - but I don't think Villa or even Liverpool ( and as ex Utd he would not be a popular choice there) count at the moment and they both come with many strings attached.
Anyone else notice the 'hungry and ambitious' quote? Sounds like something off that spoof Fulham article on here yesterday. I also don't think he's off this Summer though. He's still got a way to go before people start talking about him for the top 4 clubs - Villa and Liverpool have more baggage, (arguably) less money and are nowhere near top 4
MH isn't after a big club. He wants a club with ambition, a club that is moving forward and be part of something special. He won't get that at villa or pool. They are sinking ships.
If he converts us from relegation candidates to a top half side next season his reputation will be further enhanced. He knows he has a golden opportunity with us and with funds to strengthen available I can't see him departing any time soon...
Dunno about softening. He kept us up which I'm going to celebrate again tonight, but he took over when we were 17th, spent millions and we finished 17th, nothing to get carried away about! But the Club is doing all the right things now, MH does seem to be able to find very good players, and the future is looking very good. Nevertheless I'll be happy to see Villa and more especially Pool find new Managers from somewhere else quick!
