He's on his way at last. Guess FFs will be shedding buckets of tears. He took care to take a swipe at Michael Laudrup claiming that he was never given a chance. He says that Laudrup also informed him he wasn't interested in keeping any players over 30 years of age. How old is Ash, by the way? Must be moving well in that direction so, if what Gower says is true, perhaps ML feels that he should be cashing in now while he's worth a few bob. Just a thought.

Can't help feeling there is some sour grapes here. I was never particularly fond of Gower as a player - a few decent games lost in a multitude of dross. Apparently Laudrup questioned his fitness levels, which for me is a damning indictment, because I don't feel that the general fitness level of the team is where it should be anyway. So, if Gower didn't even measure up to that.......

Also, when he first went to Charlton on loan, the first thing he was told was to improve his fitness before he could be considered for selection. Two managers saying the same thing tells me there was a pattern emerging.....

Whatever, he was a Swan and he did make a contribution, so I wish him the very best for the future.

Mark Gower needs to wind his neck in a bit i think ! its ok talking about not getting a chance but if it was clear that early on that he wasnt going to figure why didnt he just **** off on loan at the first window ? if games were that important to him then he could have dropped down a division and played every week..truth is he was happy to sit around and pick up his wages, the only reason he has got off his arse now is because he is potentially unemployed come the end of June!

We all know nothing replaces playing and match fitness is different but there have been plenty of players that train like professionals 24/7 Gower wasnt one of those! if laudrup said he didnt like players over 30 then i cn understand and i beleive Laudrup was probably being a bit kind there! the guy will be 35 next Birthday and he is no Ryan Giggs is he !!...<laugh>

The club signed Ki sung and JDG in the summer so he should have taken the hint then, its not rocket science is it? Kemy,Leon,JDG,Michu and Ki were the prefered options and there isnt a Swans fan in the world that would have put Gower ahead of any of those players..sour grapes indeed me thinks!

Gower always was and always will be a steady eddy type player, neat and tidy but nothing special, while having some good games last season it was clear to see that his goal threat was as non existant as it was in L1 and the championship. My honest thought was that he kind of stole a living as a "premier league player" much the same as tate and monk have though the latter has been nothing short of inspirational at times at sweat blood for the cause which made up for his lack of speed and technique.

Mark Gower was one of the players that by rights needed to be booted out the year we won promotion, he played his part but im sure Orlandi would have done as good a job as him if not better so he should have no complaints about his treatment overall, he stole 2 years as he is not preier league standard..never will be either.

I was Mark all the best,we all love a tryer and mark was just that. Name me premier league midfielders 34 and over and i will show you some of the finest pro's in the game, they need to be in the top 10% to be playing at that age in that position and the names like Lampard,Giggs and Scoles speak for themselves!

Mark needs to realise he was never top drawer and should be thankful for everything we gave him, especially 2 yrs on prem wages, thankfully Brenden was the kind of guy who would give contracts to people just to keep the dressing room ticking over,Laudrup is not close to the players and does his job from a totally cold and professional position.
If gower thought he should have been ahead of Michu,Britton,JDG,Ki or Kemy then he needs to sort his brain out! its never nice to wave good bye to decent pro's but thats football, thats why he gets the big money..and he has earnt a fortune since coming to the swans on a free transfer.

Good luck to Mark Gower in the future,he played his part like so many others did and i will always be thankful but he should be keeping his mouth shut and show the club a bit of respect, footballers get moved on,its a fact, his comments have made him out to be a bit of an Arsehole especially as he had plenty of chances to fly the nest earlier in the season,he decided to stay, pick up his money and blow it in the bookies instead of being a 100% professional and go where he is wanted <ok>
