Mark Ellis has gone out on loan to Carlisle for a month. http://www.shrewsburytown.com/news/...carlisle-united-sky-bet-league-1-2772205.aspx Bit of a shame but the Carlisle fans seem fairly pleased with it. I doubt we'll see much more of Ellis.
I am a bit disappointed with this news as from what I have seen this season Ellis has played reasonably well. With Whitbread and Gerrard both not yet fully fit, NKP struggling with his knee, Grandison out of sorts (possibly carrying an injury) and Smith still quite raw can we really afford to lose a generally dependable centreback? Apparently he can play for them in the Cup so I think you are right Matster and we may not see him in a Town shirt again. I reckon we could pick a reasonable league 2 side from our numerous disaffected and apparently discarded players still on the books of the club. Though I do not want to go back to the bad old days of very little recruitment that marked GT's last couple of years I must say that MM is getting it wrong with player recruitment far too often for my liking and that is causing team instability and also putting an unnecessary drain on the club's limited budget.
Ellis was very poor against Rochdale and I don't think has played since. The least footballing player of the central defenders. Not too disappointed.
Lets hope you are right KDS - it would be nice to see Smith develop into a League 1 player and Whitbread certainly has the pedigree though I think Gerrard is probably more of a risk as he brings some baggage with him (and not just around the waist!)
