Got injured on his debut I think. I still think he can do well for them, he's obviously not the finished product but there are signs he can become a good player, even though some on here don't think so.
Can anybody tell me when the contracts expires for Mark Cullen, Jay Simpson & Jamie Devitt? Would you offer any of these a new deal?
I'd offer Cullen and Devitt new deals if they are on a small wage, they both have talent but need to iron out simple things in their game. I wouldn't let them go for less than a decent sum + sell on clause. Simpson could be a backup for if we don't sign Waghorn, he's still a decent player and it'd very much depend on how he does at Meewaw
Simpson got a three year deal, so it'll expire next season. I reckon he could become a decent player so I'd offer him a new contract even if it's just to get a transfer fee rather than losing him on a free. Cullen expires at the end of this season, I think he should perhaps be given another year before moving him on, just in case he suddenly picks up form and develops. No idea on Devitt I'm afraid.
Devitt and Cairney both signed new deals until the end of the 2013 season. I can't see Cullen getting a new deal, I think he'll be released at the end of this season, along with several others(including Harper, Atkinson and Adebola). We won't give Simpson a new deal either, we'll try and ship him out in January, to free up a place for permanent deal for Waggy.
Thanks again OLM, hope your right with your suggestions for Cullen, Harper, Atkinson, Adebola and Simpson.
Agree about Cullen, did well with the reserves but unable to step up. Will go same direction as Gary Bradshaw. Harper won't get another game, same with Atkinson and Simpson. Devitt will stay, but don't understand us having Adebola. Think we'll get Waggy, will be harder to get Brady. Maybe Pusic can step into that space.
here's my take on these players.. Devitt - has got the talent, just needs experience and more strength, which isn't easy as he has a slight build, but there again Steve McManaman wasn't built like a brick ****house either.. Cullen - got my doubts now, even the goal he scored in the PL was probably going in anyway.. Simpson - he can be a good player as we saw in that spell where he netted 5 but he's not as good as Waggy in all round play. Waghorn - yes please, one of the best players we've had at City in a while, a young Deano in physique too. Adebola - waste of time. I just don't get the logic - NP identified that we might need a big guy, which there was an argument for, then Dele doesn't get a game and when he does play reserves he's apparently shyte. Now NP says our style is interchanging and passing, which is great but we don't need a big fella then.. Pusic - also got my doubts, reminds me of Halmosi, he'll become the forgotten man..
I didn't understand the Adebola signing in the first place, but the fact that we now have Waggy who can hold the ball up way better than him, means he really is surplus to requirements and if we get Waggy on a permanent in Jan, I would be surprised if he went out on loan until the end of his contract.
trouble with gary bradshaw was he went in the direction of michael price and garry alexander (and that was down the pub). cullen is a similar player to bradshaw but hardly comparable in terms of those around him. I personally think Cullen has more potential than Bradshaw, which for me is a glowing testimony as I feel that Bradshaw was the best footballer to get away from us in a long time. we need to stick with cullen for sure. as for devitt - division 4 at best. he is at his level now!!
