Seeing what Mark Clattenberg has been put through by Chelsea FC recently, does anyone else think that he deserves a massively warm welcome to our ground tonight. This ordeal must have been horrifying for him the way everyone is jumping on the racism bandwagon lately. I'm no racist, far from it, but that clown Peter Herbert from the black lawyers association seems to have stirred up a hornets nest lately by basically condemning Clattenberg before any evidence was heard. Any proper football fan knows that a premier league referee is most likely incapable of such things. So give the man the warm St Marys welcome he richly deserves. You never know, if we do, he may give us penalty or two that we didn't get on Sunday. COYS
I agree it can't have been pleasant for him, but I don't think he deserves anything from us because of it! I'm sure getting back to doing his job will be enough for him.
I agree - this will get high profile coverage in tomorrows media and we cant do ourselves any harm by giving him a warm welcome.
Give him a reasonably warm reception, but save the best if he gives us a penalty Nigel made a good point in his interview...he says the way the world is going is wrong where you can be suspended from any job on an accusation whether you are guilty or not.
Peter Herbert will be at White Hart Lane tonight trying to get the spurs faithful thrown out for chanting "yid army".
Will probably make a howler tonight. Big return etc, crowd go mental...Lots of press and more abuse his way.
Well he got a warm reception all right, every "**** ref" chant going was used in the first half I think. Rightly so as well.
Yep. Am wincing already waiting for the MOTD 'spin' on this. eek. Bad timing and could make our fans look very bad after plonker pundits that didn't watch the game put it out of context.
He always has been ****ing useless and always will be. ... and he is racist, he's clearly a hampshirephobe. The hampshire hating ****.
One of the disappointing things for me about making our complaint of inappropriate language was that it disguised his truly abysmal performance in our match against United. While he is not a racist, he himself is still the bastard in the black.
on another note regarding your signature, you now have the manager to return you to that 'awful awful football'. lol So glad we stuck with NA.
Prima Donna Ref - needs to go to specsavers as I politely pointed out to him at full-time! All the decisions first half went the way of Norwich! C*ck!
He was shocking again as he was a few weeks ago at st. Mary's. he should be sacked not for being a racist but just for being incompetent. Also on radio 5 live they said he had a standing ovation - I must have missed that bit!
Yeah bbc said that as well but pretty sure he got booed. Couldn't have got it more wrong bbc, I understand why there was so much pressure on him in the Chelsea match now! He is shockingly bad
I'm sure Clattenburg was glad to be back with the usual insults against refs. Back to normal. The warm welcome he got at the beginning of the match from players and managers is because everyone is aware that 'there but for the grace of God go I'. Racism has no place in football, but neither have witch hunts. A mere accusation is enough to ruin someone's life. I don't think anyone at Chelsea was being vindictive...it was a misunderstanding and Chelsea were required as an employer to report it. The huge error was going public and Clattenburg being suspended without trial.
