Is it just me, or does this read as though there's a really bad issue with racism among City supporters?

The twitter thing with Vaughn has been well documented, and the club moved quickly to address it.
The other issue he speaks of regarding us though, I was around on twitter for. I saw one idiotic comment that bordered on racism, but I can't remember seeing anything else.

It is, of course, an extremely serious issue, but I can't help feeling we've been unfairly tarred in this.

The kindest thing I think I can say is " He may be called Bright, but he's not the brightest bulb in the chandelier!"

The problem with racism is that you can do all you want but you can't change people's views. My wife told me this weekend that you must no longer call "Foster Children" by that name.Apparently they are now "Cared for".Many of the initiatives to combat racism seem to me to exacerbate the problem if the comments of those who I know and regard to be racist are anything to judge by.I honestly don't know what the answer to it is.

not sure i quite understand the problem exile. i was one of numerous city fans who lambasted the guilty guy at the time and happily the club dealt with the 'fan' quickly and decisively. i myself have had run ins with bright on twitter because he talks a lot of garbage in my opinion but what happened that day was a massive surprise to me and i guess others too. i have followed city for over 20 years and that was the only time i've ever heard or read anything even remotely racist come from a city fan. it was appalling and the prick got shot down immediately. i'm not sure the club looks in a bad light because of this piece, quite the opposite actually. we as fans and a club dealt with racism - look at liverpool and chelsea at the moment... all they are doing is defending the actions of their players and fans!

Perhaps I'm being over sensitive superman. It wasn't the reference to the moron that was banned that bothered me, as you say, I think we come out of that bit quite well. It was more the 'relegation' issue. There was a lot of abuse that went his way that day (the relegation tweets, not the Vaughan issue), most of it deserved, but I can only recall one incident that seemed to me posibly racist. I actually contacted that person via twitter to tell them what I thought, and given that they deactivated their account, I suspect I wasn't the only one.
It just felt like linking the two made it seem City have a problem larger than we do.

I don't like that his comments suggest that Blackpool and Norwich are major offenders in all of this. Just because one 'fan' resorted to those tactics doesn't mean it's widespread.
One bad apple, and all that <ok>

Indeed, one muppet does equal The Muppet Show although with some of these pundits....

maybe i'm being under-sensitive then! i'm still of the opinion mark bright is a prize pillock. he is such a poor pundit he makes shearer look like a well-informed, astute pundit <yikes>
mark bright threw his toys out of the pram big style that day too - tarnished ALL city fans as racists and i for one gave him monumental grief for doing so. the bloke is a muppet. he received a hell of a lot of abuse midweek when he stated that glen johnson is by far the best right back england have, seconds before kyle walker was announced as motm! he's hopeless at his job (whatever that is) and i'd liken him to garth crooks and gary bloody pallister in his total and utter crapness as a pundit.

having read through his comments once again he has made some serious errors - he seems to have forgotten most of the events of that day. the racial abuse was aimed at vaughan, not him, and he was ALREADY berating norwich fans and blocking them because he had a bee in his camp little bonnet. he merely jumped on all norwich fans for no reason. i'm really not sure how he is still employed by the bbc. he acts in such an immature manner

Mark Bright seems to have some vendetta against us personally I think his an absolute c*nt, as for the subject of racism it's horrific it still exists but picking on certain clubs is not on, every club has racist fans I know Arsenal and Spurs fans who make racial comments out of ear shot, everybody has guilty fans.

Rather then sports it should be looked at more broadly in context about how it happens in society. In the area around me growing up twats who were a mixture White, Black and Asian would go to a park and scrap out on the basis they were from different backgrounds, black friends of mine were called coconuts and uncle tom's in college because they had white mates by the big gang of black lads who had to sit in the canteen, I knew a skinhead thug who I used to go to school with who would get tanked up with his hard site mates on booze every Friday and go P*ki bashing. Absolutely crazy if you ask me it's an issue and it needs to be tackled through education and interaction or the word which makes some people uncomfortable which is integration. You might not change present racist peoples views or the elderly but future generations can be educated.

Just to get my two pence in again. Just got back from Las Vegas wonderful city but if you want to see racist speak to some of the Taxi Drivers there and people of Latino or Black background they can't stand one another.
