Firstly, Reece James is NOT a midfielder. Secondly miles too late with subs, yet the attacking subs lifted our stodgy play. Maresca seems to think attack is only needed last 10 minutes. Finally, sitting back and allowing Bayern to get better, smoother, slicker and more dangerous is not going to beat them. We were undone by tentative back passes, poor retention of the ball and lack of ambition. Bayern for all their polished play didn't look like killers. Molise brilliance and Kanes' experience were the deciders. Our one decent attack was the best goal scored and with more attack minded subs, a second was always on. Not terrible ,but naive play, negative tactics and poor management will win nothing. How quickly we forgot how we pulverised PSG !!! Pace and ambition. Marescas muddled approach lacks both.
