Senna was a class act a few years back when i saw him last but because of his age i,m not sure i would sign him.

I really hope these stories linking us to over the hill, out of contract Liga BBVA players are rubbish. Another player who is too expensive and too old.

I agree, I think it'll be a waste of money. You don't want to take risks like this at an early stage, We need to stick by our transfer policy of young and hungry players! :D

On second thoughts, after being pointed to this video on a another forum,

Senna against Barca this year, he still looks quality.

I think he´d be amazing for us. Experience, grit, technique... he could easily fit into our team, and with, say one of Leon/Joey alongside him, and then one of Dobbie or Pratters ahead, that´s a more than tidy midfield.

Imagine Bodde alongside to him! I'm starting to come around on this one, still, probably won't happen though.

I think he´s probably the closest we´d have to another Bodde, minus the huge range of passing/long shots. If he was in the midfield, how would we line up? Senna, Bodde and Dobbie? Jeez we´ve got some options in midfield!

He'd be a free transfer and if his wage requirements were realistic then why not add him to the squad; his experience and presence would be valuable if he could still do it. The question is with respect to the 25-man squad rules and foreign players. If we add him, would we need to drop somebody, and if so who would that be ... probably VDG I would guess.

Van Der Gunn didn't get many minutes last season so I can't see him getting any this season . I'm with Yankee on this one , if realistic wages , there would be more pros than cons to Senna 's transfer to us . It would be nice to see this old dog , teaching new tricks to the team . He's a pretty smooth operator & would enjoy working amongst our midfield

25 man squad doesnt include players who are under the age of 21, so players like allen and Sinclair (might be boarder for age) dont need to be included in league registration.
If Senna's wages dont be too expensive then he would be a quality addition if giggs and also scholes can play at the age

He would be a quality signing if the wages were right just due to his experience, however i would prefer someone younger. Although in the video he looks good Barca were 3-0 at half time! If that wasnt the case i doubt Barca would have given him that much time on the ball? But again if the wages are reasonable (which IMO i doubt they would be) he would be a good addition.

Oozes quality doesn't he? He will need younger legs around him but what a player for the others to learn from. The other thing that I like is that he's genuinely two footed - obvious as it might sound, it does give a player more options taking and receiving the ball. He needs less time to work it onto his strong peg and, in possession, keeps a tackler guessing as to which way he's going to go - thus he gets more space and time on the ball.

He's probably a pipe dream for us but then so was the Premiership a short while ago.

I love how how the first few posters judged him just by his age and not by his technical ability. He would fit right into our system and with joey allens legs alongside him, it could be a fine partnership!

currently or should i say his last contract - he was on around 26k a week, if we can sign him at the most matching his wage, then surely why not 1 year deal with an option of another year based on staying up and also appearances

No way we´d pay him that much man, probably 15-18k absolute maximum I´d imagine!

this would be a coupe if Brendan can get him, at 34 he will not command a huge wage and the skill of the man is immense. as stated on the EP that this is not a long term appointment but maybe a season, we are talking world class footballer here with a second to none pedigree and should he Fancy one last season in the best league in the world to finish his career then i hope Brendon can get him....<party><party><party>:smiley-finger007::smiley-finger007::smiley-finger007:

Just had the EP through my door and reading this, he's quality to replace Van der Gun I think, who has been released today, he has one hell of a free kick, and yes he's 34, but he's playing at the highest level in Spain, so would be great experience for a season or two, to help our young guns down the wings! Hope we get him.......................
