I'm against this for a ******ed reason. I'll never forget him being put down by Martin O'Neill at HT while doing analysis of some game. Desailly said something about where the defender should be and O'Neill's response was "You're wrong. I don't care how many World Cups or European Cups you've won, but you're wrong..." and in fairness... he was! Ha.

    That's pretty ******ed, Scott. <laugh>

My concern is a lack of experience, nothing more. But bloody hell he'll get instant respect that's for sure.

Respect is important, Knack, but knowledge and experience even more so, particularly for us at this so crucial stage. I've nothing against Desailly but I have also seen him corrected on screen about an observation he made.

Terrific player but he knows NOTHING about coaching a team because he has never done it anywhere before, let alone in the Premier League. While he is learning, we could be losing. Yes, I would prefer a "name" coach because I believe it would be a statement of intent from us and could attract players to the club.

BUT, the proviso is that this coach has to have proven ability. Desailly cannot offer this. He has no track record of any description. Foolhardy to consider him, in my opinion.

    Latest odds from Skybet:-

    Holloway 5/2

    Laudrup 7/2

    Desailly 4/1

    Jones 11/2

    Poyet 7/1

Other bookies differ so you pays your money.......... I quote Sky bet because I don't see Desailly listed anywhere else. Shame to see Poyet drifting.
