I was very surprised Celtic let him go - not the most fashionable of players and didn't woo the fans with tricks, but he was consistently solid and kept a few very decent players out of the team at times. Good luck to him, I think he will do very well there.
Well done delboy, Mark Wilson (ex Celtic) very impressive defender in the friendlies, great signing, a couple more like him and we will be fine.
Maybe Redallover, but i want to see him in the middle of defence....alongside Wilson ! Fontaine gives me the willies
'Tuesday would have been very different' Don't think so. City played like total strangers and with no pattern. Attitudes stunk, some players were played out of position, that didn't help but the main reason is we're not good enough. We are a WORSE team now than the team who JUST avoided relegation - Bikey is light years in front of Tangle and allowed Fonts to play left side. McInnes has signed Morris - On Tuesday he looked out of his depth and I'm not talking about his LJ stature. Last Christmas McInnes/Lansdown knew we needed a CH,creative CM and Striker. They've failed - miserably.
Redprintt, how can you say (putting the others to one side for a moment), that with the addition of Cunningham and Wilson that we are a worse side. It defies belief.... You and I were pretty much on the same wavelength in respect of the previous management(s) but I am confident that things will improve all round under DM but you have to give it a little time plus we will have more additions to come and I really don't care if they are "big names" - so long as they can do the job well, thats all I care about... Once again, I ask you to wait until we've played a few league games and see how we play in these before coming out with this sort of stuff BASED ON ONE GAME. For goodness sake, the season hasn't even started yet....
'the addition of Cunningham and Wilson that we are a worse side. It defies belief....' Of course Cunningham is an improvement. As for Wilson being better than Foster I'm not sure, I'll let you know in a few games. What is absolutely certain is that a right sided Bikey playing alongside Fontaine is balanced and light years in front of Tangle with a right sided Fontaine. 'It defies belief.....' that you or anyone else should think differently. In fact it wouldn't surprise me if McInnes plays an ageing Carey today instead of Tangle - And you think we've progressed since last year, sorry I disagree.
I actually agree with redprintt as regards the CH position, but if we do manage to get a quality player in there (not so sure about Bikey?) that would look like a very good (first choice) back four by anyones standards. Dell has said we are trying, You cant blame the manager if the deals cant be done financially.
'(not so sure about Bikey?)' I'm convinced he's not the answer, and no more want him than fly. Truth is though he's right sided and a much better player than Tangle. But football's mad and we might get a decent result today - especially if Marv plays alongside Skuse in CM. Really impressed with Skuse last back end and was equally good 2nd half against Gillingham.
Got to agree with R/P about the CH and St but we know that Deldoy is going fullout to sign these players,I'm sticking with the manager all the way...
