He's over in Blighty to take in the rugby union.

Also his 55th birthday this coming week. So what more excuse do we need to pay homage to the little maestro.

    Greatest of them all?

Aye he's a **** for sure, but his footballing ability is pleasing on the eye.

Division up from Zidane for me.

The way he rides some of those challenges, he's a lot more honest than most modern players.

Personally I'm over '86 and can appreciate what a genius of a footballer he is. A joy to watch.

Meyler is in the same division. No higher.

Greatest player I ever saw. Cheat? No more than any ****er else really. He just happened to get away with one in a big game against England. I've never bought into the hatred.

The other goal he scored that day eclipsed everything.

One-footed. So he's no Sam Ricketts.

I think 1990 is a factor too. That was probably the ugliest major national team in my lifetime.

Cameroon were even more ugly. I remember when they hacked down Cannigia (spelling?). Enjoyed the brutality hugely.

Very true. The World Cup final that year, (along with the general utter disbelief that Argentina had got to it) was an appalling match that overshadowed an otherwise entertaining tournament. Cameroon and Roger Milla beating the Argies in the opening game was a joy to behold. Although they were dirty ****ers too - down to 9 men yet still won!

I remember reading that a few years after the handball he said it was done in revenge for the Falkland's War. :D He really is an idiot.

At least I have something in common with Maradona - Puma Kings. Therein the similarity ends. Great player with balance and skills. Was a bit of a twat though!

He was some player. He'd revel in it now with the lack of physical contact. Remember reading Goiekachea (sp) breaking his leg/ligaments and there being a picture in the stadium on the wall at Bilbao celebrating it. He'd be unplayable now.

I've always preferred Pele though as he was two footed and also good in the air. Nowt wrong with being one footed, especially when its that good-Maradona Puskas Tom Cairney...
