    Just a simple question really..

    Who do you think is better?

    My opinion is, you can't compare the master with the apprentice and when it comes down to it, Maradona is the better player. However I do prefer Messi, because he doesn't seem to type to turn into a fat **** and ruin his career. <ok>

    Messi is the greatest player I have ever seen. Only seen clips of Maradona - anyone can look good with 'best of' clips.

    Actually the best player I have ever seen was Ronaldo, the Brazilian one.

    Skills were too good for his knees to take. If it wasnt for his injuries he would have the greatest of all time title by now

    I must say it hard to chose between him and Zidane for me, but Zidane just pips him to the post. Both were outstanding.

    Maradona by far. Until Messi replicates his club form - for what is the best team in the world with the best players in the world with a game plan that is geared around him - at international level where he's playing alongside poorer players, then there's no question about it. The fact Maradona went to Napoli and won Serie A and gave the club its best era in its history, the fact he won the WC almost single-handedly, the fact he could take on entire teams, despite refs allowing him to be hacked down, make him the best ever. I don't think there will ever be a better footballer for a long time - if ever

    Ronaldinho is the best I have ever seen. May not have sustained that peak but he reached the highest level of skill.

    If we're speaking about best players we've ever seen then yes it's got to be Zidane for me aswell!

    He knows how to use his head aswell...

    I am old enough to remember Maradona and I say Maradona as it stands. Messi is brilliant and deserves the comparison but I would need to see him deliver for many more years to come before I would give him the crown.

    Also agree with Sir Bobby re his comments about Maradona almost single handedly winning Serie A for Napoli and the world cup for Argentina. Messi has a brilliant team around him at Barcelona and I would like to see how well he could carry an average team before I praise him too much.

    I agree with this, though Maradona did it in Italy and Spain with not so famous clubs. Maradona was the greatest player ever and to me no-one comees even close. I also seem to recall some **** ****er of a Spanish defender breaking his legs and he still bounced back. Sadly for Maradona his 'Hand of God' moment and the drugs will shine above his footballing abilities so much so that people are compared to him when in reality they are nowhere near his ability.
