yes I’m still on a rant, could go on all week and yes, still feeling very sorry for myself.
Let me be honest, I don’t know how to get us out of this mess, have opinions, of course I do but I was never a professional footballer, a successful football manager or chairman and never had the cash to be an owner.
No, I know my place, I’m a supporter, a fan, a mackem, a red & white and I know what is expected of me and do all I can to meet my obligations.

I know I have to get to all the games I can, allowing for finance, location and work and family commitments. I live local, enjoying being retired, family have flown and can just about afford my season ticket. I wear my shirt, bought from the club shop, my baseball cap to keep the sun from my eyes, again from the club shop and in winter my store bought gloves.

Arrive early at games, no pub TV for me and applaud Bruce in when he parks his silver merc. Cheer the players in with no resentment for the big cars they drive or the massive wages they collect. I get in early to applauded them out for the warm up then stand and cheer when they come out to play.
Never leave early and do what I can to cheer them on, its what’s expected, I’m a supporter so I meet my expectations, I do my bit.

In return I don’t expect Bruce to do it all or know it all, that’s why I’m pleased he has the best in assistants, coaching staff, medical staff, dietitians, fitness coaches.
I don’t expect the players to know it all or do it alone so I’m pleased they have excellent training facilities, advice and coaching staff.
I don’t expect the team to win the premiership, finish top 6 or even stay up, I do expect them to work hard and do their best.
I don’t know the best team or team formation, I expect Bruce and his staff to know.
I no longer know if Bruce is the right man, I do expect Quinn to know.
If any player is not giving their all, I expect Bruce to get rid and ensure the 11 players on the field do give their all.
If any of the coaching staff are not giving their all I expect Bruce to get rid.
If Bruce is not giving his all I expect Quinn to get rid.
If the players, staff and Bruce are giving their all but its not working I expect someone to get rid.

I have heard a lot this season about commitment from us fans, get to the game, not the pub, buy from the club shop, not the market, get there early to cheer the lads on.

I do all of that so am I asking a lot in saying , I do my bit, when are you going to do yours, Mr Quinn, Bruce,Cattermole,Turner,Gyan and the rest.

Sill pissed off, does it show?

You need to come out of retirement Syd, you have far to much time to think about things :) With my busy work schedule, I was blissfully unaware of everything you have pointed out in your post.

I'm off down to the coast now to jump off Durdle Door! (my avator pic)

Only joking mate, great post as usual from the wise old man :)

You are spot on. I said in an earlier post that Niall and Steve Bruce made a big thing of buying the right players who could stand the pressure of playing in the NE. In my opinion we need players who are prepared to give their all in EVERY game. Too many players, for me, have gone missing lately.

However, we still have games to play and our luck must change at some point soon
