It's rumoured that Mathieu Manset and Scott Davies will sign for Wycombe on loan sometime early this week. Scott Davies has returned from his loan from Bristol Rovers and was at the game against Stevenage on Saturday. Mathieu Manset was recently signed by Reading from Hereford and Waddock knows plenty about him, as he scored against us whilst playing for Hereford. He is a young striker who knows where the net is. This is great news if the deals go through and great help from Reading.
Certainly need a forward that can find the net. Other priority really should be getting a left footed, left sided midfielder. That is what we are so obviously lacking. Real end of season push is needed now.
Need a finisher definatly, and if Manset is the man get him in. Anything is beter than Strevens who has recieved more yellow cards than goals scored lol (33 league starts, 4 goals, 5 yellow cards).
I'm not sure we really need these two. We need to give rendell and beavon time together to start scoring goals again, i'm not sure why waddock broke up this frontline in the first place as they were scoring and creating goals. The emphasis has to be on building an attack good enough for league 1 next season, not bringing in a striker for a few matches then being short of goals next season when he leaves again (ie John Akinde last season), As for Davies, another central midfielder? We have lewis, donnelly, bloomfield and montrose already fighting for places, and davies was so poor at the start of the season, i don't really want him back. However, i do agree with the comment about a left sided player. Personally I would like to see a solid left back come in on loan and for sandell to play left mid, giving him more freedom to attack and not having to rely on his fairly weak defensive play.
I agree we need to build an attack strong enough for league 1, but how much time do we have left, it may just be easier to pull in a goal scorer and get automatic. Hey we could give the attack some time and be patient but the way its going were heading for playoffs, dont you think?
if waddock doesnt sort the team out we will be lucky to hold on to a play off place.i dont know what leon has done to upset waddock but it needs to be sorted out because winfields distribution on saturday was woeful.get srevs out of the team and rendell or jp or both up front we need goals
Davies will give us that much lacked creativity. We are great at getting the ball around the 18 yrd area and our final ball is completely useless. Donnelly has been pretty shocking since he arrived (apart form that goal). I'm glad we didn't splash out to sign him (as many wanted). Lewis and Montrose are dogged, defensive ball winners, whilst Ainsworth and Betsy are clearly wingers. If we get the "Davies" from his first spell with us then we have a real asset. Hopefully after his time with Rovers he should have a decent level of fitness. Strevens is certainly not a midfielder and really isn't a productive scorer, therefore, we can't afford the luxury of carrying him in the team. Leon and Westwood look like our safest pairing at the back. Winfield is great in the air, but his distribution is shocking. Don't really know why we keep harping on about it on here as i'm sure GW doesn't read forums or take notice if he did! Guess a good rant helps release that football tension
Manset would be a good signing for the rest of the season. But unless Davies has suddenly become a left winger and started passing to team mates feet rather than launching hollywood balls to no one then I would steer clear of him. He was a big disappointment second time around which was a real shame given the impact he had last season.
